pro team wear or simple design
When it comes to buying and wearing cycling shorts, bibs, jerseys, jackets, gloves, shoe booties etc... do you find and purchase pro team wear, or solid color/simple design wear Pearl Izumi, Castelli, Performance etc...
|
In fact I've had riders comment on the fact that I have a red bike, red jerseys, red gloves, red Camelback...you get the picture. Maybe I need a life.

You are missing one... race team (local actually race for) and club wear...
|
I'll only advertise for a company if I get their clothes for free. Otherwise, I'll only buy the solid color plain stuff!
|
I don't mind wearing the Pearl Izumi logo, because most of my gear is PI, and their quality is OUTSTANDING.
|
Another one missing -- no-team, no-logo bike gear, which is still colorful (or even aggressive). I'm thinking Primal Wear and stuff like that.
|
I'm surprised we haven't heard from any t-shirt devotees yet.
If I wear a pro team jersey, it's got to be the most obscure team in the world. That rules out anything current. My favorite is the old putrid green Jelle Nidjam SuperConfex jersey. |
no team wear for me, unless I got one of the
Faema or Cinzano wool jerseys from Woolistic. I do have a CSC jersey (2001?) but I work for them. Marty |
Obscure Belgian club jerseys from the 70's are the coolest...if you can still get into them;-)
I wear my own club clothing a lot of the time, or bits of old East German training kit i picked up a while back- some of the hardiest woollens I've ever seen. |
I have 1 team jersey that was cheap and the other 10-12 are just colored. I just have it in my head that if your all logoed out then you should be a pretty darn good rider. At least half the time thats not true and i'm not anything more then a guy that rides so when i wear my single team jersey,i feel like everybody is thinking the same thing about me,look at that faker.
|
I like the designs on a lot of the pro team wear but the prices are outrageous. If anything the prices should be cheaper to allow for advertising of the product.

I have one pro-team jersey, an older Fassa Bortolo jersey sent to me from an Italian cousin. I don't get the North American bias against wearing Cycling team jerseys; you see hockey/football/rugger/baseball jerseys all over the place. But if you are riding a bike and wearing a "pro" jersey, you are not a fan but a poser? I would never go full Euro-kit, but please let us wear our jerseys without the judgement.
|
I'm with you Boudicca.
My jersey is bright green and has an arrow frog on it wearing cycling gloves. Hey, any jersey is fine as long as you're riding wearing it, but personally, I'd rather not advertise for beer or cellphones. :D |
I wear what's cheap and comfortable. :)

I wear whatever I want. Even if it's a team kit I didn't earn. Then again I got nothing to fear from a Cat 4 looooooser.

I have mostly plain stuff...shorts for sure are plain, but lately I do have several Team jerseys as well as some other colorful stuff (Salsa, Dos XX, 6 Lounge).
|
My wife gave me the following jerseys for Christmas: Oscar the Grouch, Endless Summer, Otter Pops. I can't wait to wear them. I prefer something colorful and different. Not big on team kit, unless I belong to the club.
|
My wife sells cycling clothes so I wear the scraps (seconds, stained and returned stuff).
|
I chop and change. You're as likely to find me in jeans and t-shirt as you are in cycling shorts and jersey. I prefer the simple, single colour designs but this is just typical for me. I object to paying more to be a billbord for someone.
You won't find me in any of these bib thingies because they don't really serve any additional purpose for me. |
Simple design. I find much of the pro wear to be tacky IMHO.
