Metric this week, century next week

I bought my first road bike on Oct 11th (friday before yesturday).

I rode ever minute I could, including some in the rain. A few days were about 50 degrees outside and raining, since I don't have rain gear that wasn't happening.

On the 28th there is a group ride with some of my friends that will be a 100 mile tour, lasting about 7-8 hours.

I've never ridden more than 40 miles at a time, until yesturday. I decided that since I'm ridinge 100 miles next weekend, I should try and ride a metric century this weekend.

turned out to be be a 4hr 56min ride over 72.56 miles
not bad i don't think... considering I just got my bike last friday, and had never ridden a road bike before then

that brings the total weeks mileage to: 241.91 miles

It's a drug I tell you!

Congrats!!! I also bought a new road bike a couple weeks ago and have been clocking the miles on it. But I'm not a newbie. Again congrats.. its not a drug.. it's just an addiction

So which one did you use?:p (jk)

When I first bought my first road bike I found it relativly easy to ride longer distance then on my mtb. Alot faster too. Enjoy your up coming ride and have fun.

This is so true. I feel the same after having ridden 74 miles that I did when I rode 34 miles one day on my mountain bike. Love those skinny tires ;)

I've also noticed that I seem to be pushing a slightly higher gear all the time on the road bike, and it's *MUCH* smoother than the mtb
