How many of you cycle a distance equivalent to your new age on your birthday?
Today is my day .... and I'm debating if I can fit it into my schedule or not. If I had just turned 20, or 22, or 25, or something, it would be easy . . . . . . . . but . . . . . .
If I do manage it, it would have to be on the trainer .... hmmmmm ....

It's my birthday on the 19th March.
Since the 19th is a Sunday, I'll have the time for a good bike ride. I have two options.
a)My local bike group (a hybrid bike group) have a ride on. But, I'll need a car to get myself to the start in time. It's a ride in the outer part of Sydney, so the roads should be pretty quiet, and is supposed to a 45Km ride. I might ask for a lift in someone's car.
b)I have a friend living on the otherside of Sydney. I might see if we could meet up halfway (by public transport/bike) & go for a ride. And perhraps pop into a cafe along the way.
Since I'll be turning 28, riding my age shouldn't be too hard.
Happy Birthday & best wishes. By the way, It's my mother's birthday today too. Happy birthday to any mums out there.

I tried last year but events got in the way on my actual birthday. But about 2 weeks later I did it. Well, truth be known the thought of doing 47 miles didn't seem quite right, so I did my first half century. This is a tradition I hope to always uphold.

There's a local fellow, now in his mid-seventies, who, for a number of years, has been doing a century on his birthday.
Happy birthday, Machka. Shy about revealing the number? <grin>

The attached picture is from 2004. Last year I had to wait a few days to ride my age. This year, I hope to ride my age again. It does get harder to find the time as we get older.
If I had to do it on a trainer I wouldn't do it at all.
Happy birthday, Machka. Have a great ride.

I'll be riding on the 8th, my birthday is on the 7th (have to work that Friday) Though I'll make up for it by doing close to double my age worth of miles.

Come down here to Florida on your birthday next year. The riding is wonderful this time of the year.

Hmm, trolling for birthday wishes are we?
Anyway, I think the real accomplishment would be riding your age every day! Or maybe 100 minus your age. Once you get to 100 you can take some time off.

Hopefully no one will change this tradition to include that for majority of the ride, your speed must equal your age.
Since my birthday falls on a Tuesday, I was going ride my age each day of the weekend before and after. Its only going to be 33 miles each day. I might do more miles, you know to "grow on".

BTW...since so many of you are doing more than your age on your BDay, can I do less?
Thanks, I knew you'd understand!

i'll be 29 this year. that's not nearly enough miles for a birthday ride. it's my birthday, and riding is what i love to do. why limit myself? i'm going for a nice 3-4 hour ride.

I do have a shorter distance than that ... but not by much. I just turned 39!!!!!! And for me, that'll be approx. a 2 hour trainer ride. If I'd been born in the summer, that would be a perfect after work/classes casual spin!!
I didn't realize you were a teacher - college? Or younger? I'm currently in University working toward my Bachelor of Education.
