Jersey question

Yes I am looking to pick up a jersey. I already have shorts and everything else. How do the sizes compare to regular shirts? Also is the other things that I should just try to avoid. I just wanted to pick one up online so that I can save some money but wanted to know if there is anything in particular that I should be looking for.

First, can you translate this sentence?

As for jerseys, are you looking at a certain brand? Some brands fit quite a bit more loosely than others. ANd all jerseys are going to fit a lot closer and more snug than regular shirts in the same size.

... you are missing the pockets!!

It is all about the snug fit and the pockets .... without mentioning visibility

Go to a Bike Shop and try on Jerseys, then remember the Style, Size, Brand... then look on ebay or a online store and BUY BUY BUY!

Performancebike.com sells a lot of jerseys, including their own, which aren't bad. They have sizing charts for each brand. I wear a medium Louis Garneau and a large Santini; I'm 5'8" and have a 38-39" chest.

Some jerseys, like the Santini, have a collar that may bother you. Some have a full zipper, some have a half or less. Most have 3 pockets in the back, some have zippered pockets.

Some jerseys, like Volers, come in Race and Club cuts. The Race is skintight while the Club is a bit fuller. You don't want a loose jersey that flaps in the breeze but if you are like me you don't want the skin-tight ones, either.

If you are overweight, check out the mountain bike jerseys; usually cut fuller and not meant to be tight.

www.velowear.com I find have the most reliable sizing charts. I bought jerseys form Performance and Nashbar and sometime the fit was right, sometime not and had to return them. It seems to vary from one brand to another, often even between models.

If you really want a great fit and best material, buy from an LBS. A quality shirt at right size will last you for years. The one I wear the most is a Gore-Tex I purchased three years ago at an LBS, it was a little pricey at ~80.00 but it is much better than anything else I purchased.

Things you need to look for: fit, feel, pockets, visibility, long zip.
