Bought one brand new yesterday (but mine also has a basket on the front) for 6480 yen. They are called mama chari here. As for Manufacturer, gosh the list is endless.

Just an old single speed it looks like. I don't see a 3rd cable for shifting. Bikes like this were also made in 3 speeds with internal hubs and 5 speeds with rear derailers.

Sadly this type of bike is retro in the US and not made by many manufacturers.

I've been wanting one for a while, I miss the one I had as a kid.
