sending a bike unaccompanied
As part of my new job, I'm being shipped off to Mountain View, CA for 3 months over the summer period. Since my family is coming along, we're spending the first 10 days sight-seeing before settling into our new temporary abode.
Of course I want to take my bicycle, but since we're not flying directly to our destination, schlepping a huge box around will be a big problem.
Anyone got any suggestions for the best way to get a bike from either Chicago (we fly via Chicago to...), San Diego or Las Vegas airports (can fly into either one first, then on to the other), to either a home address in the bay area, San Jose airport for collection, or some depot in the general area for collection?
Also any idea of reliability and cost would be appreciated too.
Thanks,
Gary

See if you can make arrangements for UPS, or another freight carrier to do the shipping for you. You can make arrangements to pick it up direct at their facility in the town your going to.
