Quitting Sumo wrestling...

Yes, it's true! I'm leaving Sumo wrestling, perhaps for good.

It seems that Sumo wrestling and cycling don't mix after all. After
all these years of cycling to work and other places I needed to go,
I can't keep enough weight on to qualify for a match! Which may be a good thing, because I could get killed! Besides, imagine showing up for a Sumo match with my ribs showing! That would disgrace the whole Sumo wrestling community.

It's really sad, even a little depressing. I can't fit any of my
Sumo thongs anymore. They just fall right off! And my driver's license picture looks like some other person. It's embarrassing
when I write a check and the cashier won't believe that's my picture. Even aside from the picture, my date of birth says, "1959." If that's the right date, where is that 20-year accumulation of "dinner and a movie?" The more I think about it,
the worse it gets.

I'm sorry, I just had to turn somewhere, and you people drew the short straw! Any suggestions? Has this happened to anyone else? I am really getting a little desperate, here!

Your friend,

Pete Clark
former Sumo Champ, Cyclist

You can't quit now, Pete! I already had bets down on you in the Worlds and my bookie doesn't give refunds!

Well Pete, things change, and we have to be prepared to change with them.

Maybe you're right, Sumo and cycling may not be a good fit. To paraphrase Rainman in one of his other posts, I just can't get the image of a Sumo from behind out of my head. And it ain't good!

Just don't go to the other extreme and become a pygmy!

Pete, I still think sumo wrestling is more lucrative than cycling...so I am still available to take your posts if needed.

Ba-Dg-Er,
If Pete's posts double, we will all have to chip in so Joe can afford the website upgrade to handle the volume.

Rainman,
if you will try to read on one of the open topic, "Bikeforum Jersey" if these gets off the ground this site will be self sufficient and we don't have to chip in anything

Nah, Pete, you can still be a sumo champion. Just use your cycling legs to trip your opponents up (do the rules allow that?) and you'll be OK.

I dunno--can a sumo wrestler be tripped? With that ultra-low center of gravity?...

I want to publicly thank all of you for encouraging me to remain in Sumo wrestling.

Most of all, I want to thank Mike Stone, who unknown to most was the one who first introduced me to Sumo wrestling:

Thanks forever, Mike!
