My problem with the EPA

Due to a little known provision in the Environmental Protection Act, I need to file an environmental impact statement before putting on anything clingy, like spandex or lycra. However, after riding a half century today, I found myself chafed and sore in places where I'd really rather not be. So, the question I have is, what is there for biking apparel that a person of my stature can wear, either as outerwear or under my sweats, that can take care of some of the issues I found re: chafing and soreness? With a 2x-3X size in pants and a 2X shirt, wearing bicycle pants really isn't in the cards, but I need something to help with the soreness, because I plan on doing more 50+ mile rides this year.

I'm not really aware of any advise I can give you, but I am curious about these strange EPA provisions which I have never heard of. The only thing they do that pisses me off is giving HVAC technicians a hard time about refridgerant, which I always compare to complaining about a campfire next to a Ford factory.

Might be more to do with the FDA

I get your joke.

Just get the bike shorts and wear baggies over them if you need to.

Get a Brooks. Goes with most pairs of pants...

Just wear whats comfy - for me thats bib shorts (size XXL) and with 7C temp today a long sleeve soccer shirt. It might not look pretty, but it looks better than a 3 ton SUV. Cyclists will understand, and other people's opinions dont matter.

You can buy baggy bike shorts that have a padded liner. Or, as suggested above, you can wear lycra shorts underneath your regular shorts or pants.

KY, bag balm, Petrolatum, Talcum powder. There are any number of people who custom make bike shorts and jerseys. www.foxwear.net may not add liners but their site will give you some ideas.
