My bad grey hair is what I wear ... working well so far

Bald head.
Summer: either nothing or a bandana
Winter: skull cap for the average temp commute. Full face mask for exceptionally cold days.

Ya, and being that he was such a rounder, I'd say that he had to re-soak the cabbage leaf with booze.

Winter - Polartech powerdry beenie

Summer - headsweats

Wearing either I arrive at work with a lot less sweaty hair and a lot less helmet head problems :P

Bekologist 02-09-06 09:40 PM

cool and below- gore windstopper N2S beanie. Best toques I've ever seen.
mid temps- au naturel.
hot to hotteren heck - bandanna or an oldskool headband.

wsexson 02-09-06 11:18 PM

I always wear a Coolmax Headsweat. I started wearing it to keep my bald head from getting sunburnt. I wear it every ride now. I don't need to wear anything warmer than that cuz it doesn't get cold here.

SteveE 02-09-06 11:50 PM

A bandana all year 'round.

sngltrackdufus 02-10-06 02:23 AM

I don't wear anything UNDER my helmet cause i don't wear one unless forced into it.

Years ago, I was cycling on a cold night in Wichita, Kansas wearing a balaclava under my helmet. I went into a Mexican bar to use the pay phone. I could see the bartender reach under the counter for his gun. Didn't have my brain in gear. ;-)

I cut the sleeves off of old sweatshirts and t-shirts, cut them to about 6" long and slip them over my head. They soak up the sweat and give me a piece of cotton to clean my glasses if needed.

When below freezing, the hood of my light Gortes overcoat.

coolmax skull caps are great in most weather conditions, or a cycling cap or bandana for the heat. when it's cold a full face balaclava keeps you happy despite the chill

MMACH 5 02-10-06 12:28 PM

Warm days: Just my buzzed head under the helmet.

Cool days: A sleeve torn from an old t-shirt. It keeps the wind off my ears, but lets the heat escape my head.

Cold days: A fleece beanie cap, just enough to come down over my ears. And a fleece neck gaiter.

Really cold days: Full ski mask & goggles.

Buff!

Great for all conditions, cool or hot. Works as a sweat rag + keeps neck from sunburn.
For cold mornings, my wife just gave me something called "The Turtle Tube"- only used it twice, but very cozy- probably too much for anything above 48 o. Think she got it @ REI.

A blue skull cap that covers my ears and head. On those cold Saurday winter rides it works like a charm.

giantcfr1 02-13-06 12:49 AM

During winter here I wear a wonderful black Puma Beanie (skinny one)
The rest of the year nothing. I used to wear a cycling cap but it gets too hot.
I prefer the "Tri-Hauk" look my helmet gives my Do when the helmet comes off.
Steve.

vleett 02-13-06 01:44 AM

hair and skull here too!

It's too hot to wear anything under the helmet...what we need is for the wind to blow thru the helmet and cool out heads over here where the weather is very warm and humid! :D

lotek 02-13-06 09:05 AM

for cold I wear a Garneau cap. It's thin, seamless and keeps me
pretty warm.
In high temps I've tried a coolmax doo rag, works ok.
The majority of the time it's just me under the helmet.

Biker Skull Cap

I used to wear a Biker Skull Cap bandana (similar to this 1) but I've misplaced it. I'm currently trying to re-place it. I don't remember where I bought it.

Any 1 know what retailers carry them? I'm probably going to move soon so I don't want to order one or bother a friend to receive it for me.

Wow! This Zombie Thread began in 2001 and has been sleeping soundly since February of 2006.

None of those in your local bike shops? Or motorcycle shops?
