Leaf Report .... Where's the GREEN?
All right, I want to know who has leaves on the trees in the area where you live!
Here in Central Alberta, the lilac bush outside my window is just on the verge of producing leaves ... I'm guessing they'll emerge within the week!! :D It appears that it will be the first tree to produce leaves ... the rest aren't even close yet. How about in southern Alberta? I'm heading down there this coming weekend for a ride .... is there anyone here from that area? Will I see leaves on the trees??? Machka (desperate to see greenery on rides!) |
it greened up here in ohio this past week!
|
Wow, you're in a cold spot. Here in Washington, DC, everything except the Crape Myrtles are fully leafed out and doing great. Pollen everywhere!
|
Machka, the leaves stay green in these parts. Live oak and water oak are evergreen oaks, then we have Palmetto Trees (a palm, as seen on the SC flag), and three species of pines that are evergreen. Yes, pollen season is hell and long.
|
Leaves are just starting to peek out here in NW Vermont. :)
|
Leaves are out full in Virigina. Your welcome to come down

Everything is in full bloom here in Southwest Idaho. We have a really green year because of abnormal amounts of rain. :)
|
The silver maple in our yard has tons of leaves, the weeping cherry and the aristocrat pear are both flowering. I picked up some lilacs on my way home from work yesterday and will plant them this afternoon.
Love finally seeing the leaves on my bike rides! More protection from the wind on the brisk Spring days and assurance that there will be a little cooling shade once the summer heat kicks in. |
The buds just started coming out over the past weekend with the rain we got. I agree it's gloomy out there without the greenery.
|
Most everything has leaves except my evil nemesis the Cottonwood. The pollen is literally going to be the death of me. Now where is my claritin.
|
In Wisconsin, the leaves are starting to come out on some trees but nearly all trees have buds showing already. Another week or so and it should be pretty green.
|
Blossoms started here in the Capital Region last week. The grass just turned a luscious green over the past 3 days. Sweet
It rained like mad over the weekend. Tomorrow will be sunny and I will ride my bike to work (38 miles each way - a pain in the early morning but the ride home will be mild, sunny and GREEN!) |
Living in pine country everything is green all winter. But the leafy trees aren't quite ready yet.
|
The last of the major trees to leaf out, the pecans, have put on their summer raiment. Problem is, they are producing a lot of pollen. I spent the first 25 miles of the second day of TOSRV South blowing my nose.
The short, mild winters in North Florida are a treasure but the long, humid summers are a challenge. |
it might as well be summer already here in south carolina - everything's green and it's 90 F every day.

Who said trees are fully leafed out in VA? Oak trees still have baby leaves on 'em, I wouldn't call it fully leafed out yet for another week or two.
Although MY lilac bush is already dropping its flowers :D. |
What Trees? Where I ride- trees don't exist- they get blown away before they get to anything. That is only on the top of the hills though- but THEY are bleak and a bit desolate. Start coming down to the coast though and it is brightening up all over
|
The grass is nice and green, but the trees are only budding. Daffodils and some other flowers are out, too.

nothin in the way of greenage up here...

Most trees have green or red (purple) leaves here and blosoms have been showing for some time too. Also, I am having to mow the grass and dandelions about every five days.
|
Yes. The mesquite, ironwood, cottonwood, sycamores all green. The palo verde are a fantastic yellow. Even the ocotillo have leaves from the recent rains.

Leaves on everything but the Mimosa tree, lilacs are in full bloom here in Oregon. Trimmed a couple year's growth off the laurel hedge last weekend, the laurels grow like weeds here, I hate 'em!
|
In this part of NM, it's elm first, then Russian olive next. Cottonwoods are last. Right now, we've got the first two.
