Shoe Fit

Anyone here have probs with discomfort towards the outside of their foot??? I were Nike road shoes with Look Keo pedals. The shoes fit fine, however on longer rides (+30 mi) they start to hurt the outsides of my feet. I tried loosening the front two straps and no difference. Maybe the socks are next, I think my socks may be too thick. One of my riding buddies says I'm getting "hot spots". Sound right ??? I bought the shoes at the end of last season, have about 12 rides on them. Thanks !!!

When I got my new shoes this exact same thing happened to me (but Specialized shoes with Time pedals). Loosening the straps helped a little but not much so I adjusted my cleats. I have feet that point outward, argh, whats it called, the opposite of pigeon toed. Anyway it turns out my feet were not oriented correctly so that when pedaling it was putting more pressure on the outside of my feet. Adjusting the cleats so that my toes point out and my heels point toward the rear tire more and magically no more painful feet.

experiment on the cleat adjustments..

the 1st time i went clipless i experienced it too, i think... (hmm that was a long time ago).

TIP: make sure you tighten those cleats enough.. I remember one time that my left cleat went loose, and it took me half a mile of riding to remove it.... :d
