Sprained Ankles

I fell off my bike bad style about 7 months ago and sprained every thing there is in my ankle even though I am a lot better now and able to cycle long distance it still feels a little dodgy at times does anybody have any previous experience on how long these things take to get better???? ;)

Playing football I always tweek my ankles. I just give 'em a good wraping of tape and ride/run any ways.
When I first started tweeking out my ankles there was some pain but it has happend so often I do not even know what I did until I see the brusing.

I had an instructor one time put the pain of injuries into perspective. He said, " Pain is relative."

It could take a very long time to heal since it usually messes the ligiments up and there is not a good supply of blood that flows through them.

Yes, soft tissue injuries take a long time to heal. Bicycling is probably pretty good rehab for your ankle, because you can control the amount of stress/loading and you are unlikely to resprain it, as you might while jogging.

I'm still recovering from mine too.

It sucks.... heh.

Speaking of soft tissue injuries, I've discovered this amazing treatment. You may find it at some drugstores, it's called TRAUMEEL. It comes in drops and liniment. My sister told me about it and I was yeah, sure, but it's amazing! You put about 10 drops under your tongue, about 3 times a day, beginning right after you get your injury. It has arnica and a number of other homeopathic ingredients, but I swear it's amazing! If you start taking it right after your injury, and apply the creme as well, it really works. It speeds up the healing, you won't bruise as much, but it's only for soft tissue injuries like sprains, bruises, etc. I tried it after I fell and landed on my hand last summer, it hurt like HELL. But the next day, it hardly hurt at all. I've used it for other injuries, mostly pedal klonks bruises etc, and I now swear by it. The only thing is the instructions are in german! Also, don't take the drops immediately before or after brushing your teeth- something about the peppermint makes it taste funny. I don't know how widely available it is in the U.S but I've found it here at several drug stores.
