My third Vetta RT77 finally bit the dust :cry: so I thought I'd try a wireless on my road bike. Got the Sigma BC1200 on sale.
Not sure about the rubber bands. The sensor on the fork moves too easily. Any way to fix that?

Question: How do you get the thing to automatically turn on when you start riding? Left for my Saturday ride yesterday and had ridden over two miles when I realized it wasn't recording anything. Had to press the mode button to turn it on. http://www.techhelpers.net/e4u/comp/comp26.gif

I have two of these computers - mine do not seem to be auto-have to touch top button

The sticky on the back of the sensor seemed to hold my pickup on well. You could try a little silicone for an adhesive. If you really want to mount it good, then use some shoegoo.

I couldn't find anything in the manual or on Sigma's website. Thanks for the info.
I guess I'll be stopping by REI after work to swap it out for a "real" computer --- and one with NO rubber bands!!!

I went thru 3 sigma wireless set ups before giving up and going back to wired. I believe in my case the transmitter kept crapping out. Maybe someday Sigma can get their act together...

I have a pair of Sigma wireless computers. They eat batteries. I don't think the transmitters actually turn off when not in use...

Tried checking the batteries?

Oh, and to answer the OP: I don't have a problem with mine moving around. Them rubber bands are good enough to keep the transmitter in one spot.

- hmm... have had my three wireless Sigmas running for 13 months so far and no batteries needed...

- AFA the OP's question: this is a good one, as i have one BC500 that does turn on automatically, while the rest of my other five (BC500s and BC800s) do not...

- personally, i prefer that the computer does NOT turn on automatically when a sensor is in range or a revolution count may be triggered...

My BC 1200 turns itself on when I start to ride. The auto start feature is listed in the instructions and I think on the outside of the box too. You can use one of the smaller elastics on the fork to hold it better. Take the tape off of the glue on the back of the sensor to get it to stay still.

All six of my Sigma computers have worked OK for years. Some of them come off the shelf at the LBS with batteries that need replacing soon. That happens to other computers too.
The one with 8500 miles on it has never given me any trouble.

I had my Sigma BC1600 for about a week and the damn thing just quit working. New batteries in both transmitter & receiver, no luck. The transmitter just quit picking up signal. Even if I manually placed/rubbed the magnet right over the sensor.

I had a much older BC500 (wired) which worked fine but from my experience and now reading other problems with the wireless stuff, I cannot recommend Sigma.

If you do decide to use one, and you end up with a loose fit on the bars: They usually supply you with a small assortment of "rubber bands" which are actually just O-rings. You can pick up a variety pack of those at Home Depot for about $1, should give you more options. Too loose, just use a smaller O-ring.
