Who here rides a singlespeed?

In order to make the new Singlespeed forum a possiblity, we need to know how many people here actually ride singlespeed or are interested in buying / building one up. The more people who have, the better chance we'll create the forum.

i'll just leave one of my bikes in the same gear all the time...

Joe Gardner 01-15-03 07:45 PM

I tried that, it never works ;)

WorldIRC 01-15-03 07:52 PM

I agree Joe. I'm always just tempted to shift.

Heres my vote right here. I own two. The two best decisions I ever made. That forum would be a great addition to an already great site.

I'm building one.

Joe Gardner 01-15-03 10:23 PM

It's been done. Now i get to spend the next two hours moving old single speed threads to the new forum... ;)

It looks official, but I'm still throwing my vote in. I ride a ss also.

I ride in one gear 95% of the time on my commuter and I'm building a SS MTB.

I had one for a little while, then I got my deraileur fixed! ha, ha!

My buddy just got a new Redline MonoCog, the all black one! I want one now. That monocog is sexy!

My main commuter ride has only one gear, usually fixed but sometimes free when I'm lazy or going on a very long ride. More than 100 miles and I like to be able to coast once in while.

Mine singlespeed/fixie road bike is my favorite and most used bike of 6. It's also about 25 years old (at least the frame).

Now surely you have 1 gear unless you are riding an ordinary (highwheeler).

Enjoy :)...

Oh and how is the freeride forum going? ;)

Oh and I don't ride a singlespeed. I really can't see why. I love gears in the back :)

streners 01-16-03 02:02 PM

good idea joe about a foum, i was thinking of converting my commuter to a fixie, i haven't changed gear in a month or so and have wanted to try fixed for so long

MikeOK 01-16-03 09:07 PM

I still say a sub DH. A sub SS maybe in the future. I am rarely wrong.

Another suggestion- a section for regional riding?

(trying to build up some brownie points here)
