best mirror for flat bars
I have a third eye bar end mirror (round, 3", convex, about 15 years old, the new ones look the same as far as I can tell) on my new flat bar bike. I loved it on my old drop bar bike, but on the flat handlebar it is less than perfect: it doesn't tilt toward the inside as far as I would like, so I need to lean a little toward the mirror to see directly behind me (as opposed to behind me and to the left which is what I see from my normal position). This takes some of the fun out of having a mirror.
Can anybody recommend a sturdy bar end mirror that can be aimed more usefully than the one I have now? I have seen the Mountain Mirricycle but am not crazy about the way it sticks up above the bars, not sure how that would work with bar ends. |
Try a new model one. I have two one flat bar bikes and they rotate plenty far enough to get a good view. I suspect something about the design has changed since your was made that is not evident just looking at it.

If you have impaired vision in your left eye a bar mounted mirror allows for a better view. I would love to be able to use a helmet mounted mirror... but putting it on the right would not be very effective for my usual lane position. ;) |
