Nashbar frames

I'm contemplating a full up build in the near future. (Why? Why not?)

While I'm strongly considering a Surly Cross-Check frame, (ok, Surly worshippers, I guess that's your cue to pile on) the answer I'm really seeking here is this:

Who makes Nashbar's frames...and are they any good?

Just curious...and answers will help inform my decisions. Thank you.

I think they are big enough and get over to Taiwan enough to be able to spec their own frames with one of the many bike builders over there. The new signature 853 is a perfect example of that. That bike is pretty unique these days.

So, the answer is some factory in Taiwan.

i assume that you are looking at nashbar's cyclocross frame (since you are also considering a Cross-Check). i don't know who makes it, but i'm very satisfied with mine. cheaper and more than two pounds lighter than the cross-check - what's not to love? it is super-stiff, btw. at least it seems that way to me (only non-steel bike i own). welds are clean, etc. etc. etc. i'd go Nashbar.

(please excuse any randomness. i'm a bit drunk)

I have a couple of Surlys that I've built, they fit me and take lots of abuse.

I can't remember hearing anything terrible about any Nashbar frames. The price is right. if they have a frame that fits made of a material you can live with, go for it.

The price is right, and the material I can live with...but I've NEVER seen anyone ride one, never seen one in real life to examine. I've at least seen a couple of Surly bikes built into various things, and I know about their reputation.

Just trying to make sure I'm not getting a re-painted second rate something or other. From jhota's post it sounds like they're not.

If anyone else has anymore info, feel free to reply.
