Welcome to FOO! The most "FUN" part of bike forums by far. We all ride, but we all joke and have fun in here. Tell you what mm2613. PM me with some basic info. about what type of riding you are planning on doing(roads paths etc...), your basic physical shape (i don't need "I'm a 6'1" he-man hunk or I'm a 5'7" 116lb blonde female) just the basics on your level of activity. And most importantly what you are looking to spend. I still have a bunch of links from when I helped a friend and her husband find hybrids and touring bikes recently. I'd be glad to help. HOWEVER! You'd get the most and quickest responses in threads like general cycling on the main page. Good luck and welcome aboard!

Maybe a mod should move this to General?

Eminem, there's two ways to find what you want. Go to an LBS or two or three or more and try every type of bike they have (hybrid, track, bmx, road, mountain, recumbent, folder, chopper, etc.). That'll give you a limited base of experience to draw comparisons (comfort, speed, agility, fun, etc.) Then keep trying different makes of the type you want, i.e.; try every hybrid they have.

The other way is to determine your budget, what you'll use the bike for (commuting, recreation, racing, dirt jumping, touring, etc.) and what you need vs. what would be nice to have (need eyelets for fenders vs. nice to have disc brakes, but not necessary). Then research bikes from diff. mfrs., try them out at the LBS, then pick the one that fits you best.

Basically, road conditions, fitness level, your end goal, and budget.
If you give us those, our expert team of bicycle specialists will match you with an appropriate bicycle.

Allow me to introduce myself, I'm the one wearing the rubber glove...
