Bleeding Saddle Sores

My girlfriend has saddle sore. And I don't mean just any old saddle sore. Bleeding, painful, off the chain saddle sore. Right where your torso and leg meet.

It's been going on for about two weeks now and isn't getting any better. Started out with desitin, that didn't seem to relieve it (even though it usually worked for me). Tried some lanacaine disinfectant. Tried neosporin. Tried prescription antibiotic ointment. Tried panties/no panties. Hot baths, salts. Time off the bike. Nothing is clearing this up.

She's definitely a trooper though and will go out and ride despite the terrible pain. But I think we're both tired of seeing a frown on her face during every ride. So I come to the experts here to see if maybe there's another solution to this that we haven't thought of yet. Help? Thanks!

Any sore anywhere on the body that will not heal needs a doctors
attention...pronto. You've self-medicated enough.mate now get
her to a doctor before infection sets in.

Oh yes, tell her not to ride anymore for awhile until the sore can be
healed (with a doctors help). It does not good to keep the sore inflamed
by continuing to rub it on the saddle.

We may be looking at diabeties here........

See a doctor first. Then, try a new saddle. Also is she wearing bike shorts? If not try them, if so, they are made to be worn without underwear. Underwear can dig into you if you wear them.
By the wat I'm looking for a new name for my band, mind if I use "Bleeding Saddle Sores"?

As others mentioned see a doctor, have her stay off the bike until the sores completely heal and get a different saddle (like a Brooks). I'm going through some chaffing issues right now that were caused by shorts with seams in the wrong places, a saddle that's a bit too wide for me and a warm afternoon ride. This was over a month ago. I never took any extended time off the bike to let the chaffing heal and as a result I'm not riding at all this week and maybe next week depending on how things go. It's not too bad though as I am in the process of exchanging the Brooks B17 I had for the narrow version of the B17 and don't know when I'll be receiving the saddle as the place I ordered from doesn't have the saddle I want in stock right now.

Same advice -get to a doctor- Stop riding until it heals- make certain the shorts fit and get a different saddle. One of the problems that could set in is a fungal infection and that will hurt. Another good way of inflicting pain is to put surgical spirit on the Sores. Toughens up the skin and is a strong disinfectant but boy does it sting. I use it on the Cuts on a ride and it does ease them once you stop hopping about and swearing.

Do:
See the doctor
Stop riding
Find the source of the problem. (Something had to be chafing at that exact spot to cause such a terrible injury.)

Don't:
Wait
Keep riding
Ignore that this problem has a cause somewhere.

Time for the Doc! I like the band name also! Perhaps the first release could be "The Ballad of Saddle Sore Sally"
