It seemed to me that the parts were so much nicer on the Giant OCR touring that it was no contest. But I am new to this so I just wanted to get some opinions of some experienced touring folks. Thanks for any input.

Nothing wrong with Giant - I like their products & have always thought them an excellent value for the money. If you want validation for your choice, the previous sentence is as close as I can come.

My advice is don't obsess about it. You got a great bike at a great price. Now just go ride.

If I had $899 to spare, I would ask what size... I think it is a good deal. Reasonable quality components, and one of the few road bikes with factory disks.

I actually perk up whenever I see an OCR touring on eBay, but they are almost always small sized... so I lose interest quickly. ;)

I think you made the right choice, but either of the others would be nice too. You won't get a bad bike out of the deal.

OCR touring, Little Darwin? There is such a thing, distinct from the road bike? I've got a reason for asking, but it's too much a long term idea to start my own thread.

Thanks for the feedback :-) I did a forum search on ocr touring and read some good stuff. I am taking it on a 70 mile ride tomorrow from Minneapolis MN to Faribault MN. So far I do love the bike. I think it is a keeper.

There was an OCR touring for a couple of years... 2004 looks like the last year according to my search.

If the above link doesn't work, drill down at the US Giant site, Yu will find it in the 2004 Archive under OCR Elite.
