Robb, I looked at your site. I decided not to fill out your questionairre because you didn't have any kind of privacy policy.

Also, though I hate to sound mercenary, if I help you do your market research, what's in it for me?

Your questions seemed to be leading to a foregone conclusion.

I actually don't have any need for the kind of product you are suggesting. It might be useful to others, but not to me. Though it sounds rather clever, I would not spend money on it. It is a solution to a problem that I've solved in other ways.

I would fill it out if it were anonymous. I don't want to e-mail my answers because it reveals my e-mail address. If it were WWW based, I would only have to reveal my TCP/IP address (which can't be bought or sold, or result in me getting even more spam than I get now).

I ride my bike.The only reason to transport it is to take it in the shop and it goes inside the van.Dont like any type of car rack,bumber or roof.

Do you ever travel with your bicycle, if so how is it transported; bike rack, inside car etc? Yes, but I would rather ride my bike to an event.

If when travelling with your bicycle do you ever leave it unattended e.g. out side shops, public houses or fast food places etc? Yes, locked with Qudra-chain and cable.

Do you ever lock your bike to your car when it is in transit? Yes, cable lock. Locked to the door post, not to the rack .

Would you like to see an integrated locking mechanism included with bike racks? Many of them do, most are at best cheesy at best.

Do you attend race meetings and if so do you ever leave your bike unattended? N/A

How do you secure your bike at such events whether leaving it unattended during the day or overnight? Qudra-chain and cable lock.

Where is your bike normally kept; house, garage etc? Bike storage building.

Is it also locked inside of this location. Yes.

Do you use a form of floor or wall anchorage device? No, all bikes are cabled together. Try getting 15 or so bikes out the door at one time.

Would you like a simple secure system for locking your bike inside this location. Would it work with non standard frames? FS mountain bikes, recumbents, tandems?

Does your car have a tow bar? No.

If not would you consider fitting one for the sole purpose of a bike carrier? No, useless for tandems. Too long to carry across the rear of a car.

Do you have or use a bicycle maintenance stand to repair your bike? Yes.

Would you find a bicycle maintenance stand useful at race events or even recreational. meetings? Like the reciever tube mounted repair stand offered by Park tool a few years back? It would also carry a bike and could be locked.

If your bike was securely fastened to your car would you feel more confident about popping into the shops on your way home from a ride? It is, but I still do not leave my bikes on the roof if there going to be out of sight. Why tempt fate?

Would you like to see a device that anchored securely to a similar bracket both inside your house or garage and also onto the back of your car that could be swapped between the two easily? Like the locking pin on a reciver tube hitch?

Would you also like to see this product double up as a useful work stand for maintenance of your bike both at home and away? Almost any hitch rack can be used to make repairs.

What are the main features that influenced the purchase of your last bike carrier? It fit my car. New car model.

How many bikes do you normally have on your car at any one time? One tandem, most on top 12 boxed bikes.

Would you like to see a carrier that differed from the standard tubular steel construction? No. Steel is easy to repair should it be damaged.

Would you be willing to pay slightly extra for such a carrier? No.

Thank you to everyone who has replied and i would like to clarify that i am a student not some weirdo collecting e-mails. I have no intension to put any one on any lists all that i do when i recive the files is to print them out and then deleate the e-mail. I am sorry that i dont have any privacy thing on my webpage because i dont know how to do it and any how i am trusting people not to abuse my personal e-mail address. As for regular guy

Are u always like this? If some one asks u a qn in the street do ya demand payement for an answer? If i was a large company doing research for a product that was someday going to make lots of money they yes i would offer an incentive for partipication in market research, but im not, im a student who get no financial recognation whatsoever for what im doing, the questionnaire is there for any one kind enough to help me in my project, thats all.

OK, Rob, let me break this down for you:

You have your "questionnaire" (please note how this word is correctly spelled here) on a web page that assaults the user with numerous pop-up ads. You also state that you are studying for an "Industrial Design Degree", yet you can barely use the English language at the level of a 12 year-old. Your spelling is awful (even with spell-check!), and your grammar is likewise bad.

In the end, I get the feeling that you are just giving us a line of hogwash.

How to make a privacy statement: Put a statement on your webpage saying "I will not send you spam or sell your email address. I will not save your private information."

I am rarely like this, but I don't answer telephone surveys either. You are asking for my time to do what amounts to market research. The privacy policy is the more important issue for me. I do know that many people will not respond to surveys unless they see something in it for themselves. Why should they?

I was just telling you why I haven't responded to your survey. The simple reassurance of a privacy statement would have helped a lot. Unlike D*Alex, I don't doubt that you are who and what you claim to be. And when I wished you luck with your project I was sincere.
