When will the weather stop!?
This really is starting to suck. I haven't been outdoors on my bike for at least month now, and I bent a wheel 1 mile into the ride that day anyway. Every time I have off from work it rains. We finally have warmer temps, and what does it do, it melts all the snow still making the trails unrideable. This really sucks. My last good quality ride outside was on Christmas Eve. Since then it's been all trainer.

The weather never stops - it just changes!
HHHAAAAA HHHAAA Oh I'm sorry -I can't help myself. Hey - I got tired of it and bought studded tires. I haven't been getting as much riding as in the summer, but I'm up to 70 miles a week. It's not as much fun as spring but it's better than cabin fever. |
<<<Every time I have off from work it rains. >>>>
Simple Solution: It was raining this morning and I wore a rain jacket and pants. I rode 2.2 miles today. <<<<We finally have warmer temps, and what does it do, it melts all the snow still making the trails unrideable. >>>> Simple Solution: I ride in the streets. <<<<My last good quality ride outside was on Christmas Eve. Since then it's been all trainer.>>>> Simple Solution: Sell the trainer and wear warmer clothes. (Ski mask, Racket ball glasses etc). Since Christmas Eve, I had 1 day off in riding. Good luck. |
We had a quick bout of freezing rain and sleet with temps plunging back to the teens and twenties. Personally I just getting tired of riding in crap. I want to ride in some shorts and a tshirt badly. I'm leaving for Florida on vacation tomorrow maybe I'll take my bike with me afterall.

I hear you, sebring. The weather just north of you has been horrible, also. It just snowed today, again ... I just complained last week, in my own thread, so I'll give it a break this time...;)

Well, in the last month or so it's finally started raining here again. If it keeps up, this God-forsaken drought might actually be broken by the end of the year. Having spent last year putting up with being literally choked by bushfire smoke and dust storms, I don't consider rain to be anything to complain about. In fact, I'd even welcome hail!
As far as snow is concerned, I'm not sure I even know what that is! :p |
Ah shaddap.
I admit though, that snow may be a drag after a long winter, but I am sure that brushfires and dust can be pretty unpleasant, not to mention hazardous. Once last summer we there were forest fires in the north, and the wind brought the smoke into the city. It was so eerie. It happened again in september, only then the fires were closer and the air quality was worse. I rode my mountain bike to an appointment and 15 minutes in that air made me cough and my chest hurt. |
Well, I seriously hope weather never stops. Now change, that's another story... ;)

Why ride? The skiing is awesome. No rain and warm temps to melt the snow. No ice or mush, just great conditions. The best we've ever had around here!

Fenders with homemade mudflaps to protect myself and the bike from the elements. 2. Good knobby tires. If you have lots of rutted ice in your area, make that studded tires. 3. Decent clothing. Not too warm, though. 4. Ride with traffic. Regards, |
