cleaning black chrome?
Black chrome may be a misnomer... but the Bontrager cranks on my '05 Lemond are shiny and dark. Anyway, everything seems to stain them. Finger prints, water spots, etc.
I've tried just about every non-abrasive cleansing method I can think of. Any ideas before my OCP inclination takes over and these get tossed as the only non-campy component still on the bike.

Is it PVD coated or anodized black? I'd shy away from alcohol-based stuff at the very least. You shouldn't need much to clean them with. A little bit of dish soap (cuts the grease without being too harsh) and love, with a quick buff from a cotton or microfiber towel afterwards. That works well on my Centaur grey stuff, at least.
