What bike is this? I am told a Bianchi Ibex but, I can't match it with any pictures.

Looks like a Wal-Mart bike with a Bianchi sticker on it.

Not familiar with the Bianchi Ibex at all, but Propp2531 is right. It does have an uncanny resemblance to something I could pick up for $70 at the local Wal-mart. Doesn't mean it works that way though. Someone more familiar with the brand will have to answer this one.

You're right about the seat. There are definitely some angle issues with that thing. Is it just me or is the seat itself bent a bit too? Kwantum, unless you're going to be the one selling it, stay as far away from it as you can. The pic shows that some stuff (OK everything) is outdated. There are better bikes for the money. I don't know about the orientation of some of the tubes on that thing in relation to the suspension. It looks like whoever designed it liked triangles a bit too much. Do you have any info on the frame regarding its size? I've seen struts built onto bikes forming another triangle on small frame sizes, but that extra tube looks really long. It seems overkill and overbuilt, in a not good way. About halfway up the first hill you'd notice that.

That could be its latest incarnation. remember that in the early days of full-suspension bikes (not that I think suspension is fully mature right now), there were a lot of "interesting" design concepts floating about. Some of these half-baked ideas got picked up by Wally-Mart frame manufacturers and produced in mass quantities for the department stores today. Take a walk around your favourite discount dept. store and see if you can spot how many bikes are using URTs and the like because someone decided that the Trek Y-bikes looked "extreme and radical". It's quite possible that the originally posted bike is a Bianchi and even a Bianchi Ibex.

You're quite right Khuon, I stand corrected.

After scouring the newsgroups I found several references to the existance of a 95-96 Bianchi Super Ibex. I have emailed several people and hope to hear back from at least one with a picture. Maybe someone on this board has either an old Bianchi catalog or picture. Thanks again for all the help.

Well, two people have verified the information with pictures. It is in fact a '95-'96 Bianchi Super Ibex. I thought it was entertaining that many of you believed it was a Wal Mart special. Thanks Khuon.
