WaterPROOF booties?
I recently tried some supposedly waterproof booties, but my shoes and socks still got wet in downpours (even when wearing waterproof pants over the tops of the booties - so it wasnt' a water-running-down-the-leg-and-into-the-booties issue).
Can anyone recommend booties that are seriously waterproof? |
I haven't seen these in the USA, but if you're in Europe you can pick up a pair of these:

Bread bags. Seriously.
Not that I use 'em. The problem with booties is still the hole in the bottom. Start sealing the cleat holes/vents. It's amazing how much water gets kicked up into those things even with fenders. |
Who cares if your shoes get wet? Wear waterproof socks that keep your feet dry. Sealskinz work well.

There's always the ghetto solution of walmart bags between your socks and shoes.
|
My solution is to have double sided pedals, one side with spikes and one side clipless. When it gets nasty out, I can wear leather boots.
|
Or just get some Gore-tex spd boots and go clipless all the time.

Some neoprene booties are waterproof, some are not..as in water soaks through the fabric. I've had both types, and I still fail to understand what the difference is, or how to identify each type at the point of purchase.
The waterproof ones were really waterproof, as in "massive roadspray from a fenderless front wheel in a water-filled wheel-rut for miles on end" waterproof. Just the bottom of the shoe around the cleat cut-out was wet. |

i actually use waterproof socks. they breathe a little, but some folks complain of foot sweat. i don't have that problem

My booties have been waterproof since birth - altho' I understand that there were adjacent leakage problems for some time immediately afterwards
