In my experience... the LBS will throw in some accessories.. water bottle, cages etc. Sometimes you have to ask... sometimes not.. depends on the store... I went in to look at the new Lemonds... hoping they woul have a 2002 left over, since I knew they were on special, and since they didn;t.. the manager offered me $200 worth of accesories for free if I wanted the bike today... nice gesture.. probably would have covered some bottles, cages, and pedals for me... but I still haev to save.. and hopefully the '03's will go clearance in the fall, and hopefully I can get one then

No, they're probably not but it doesn't hurt to negotiate wherever you can and get the best deal possible for yourself, right ?

Hi,

I agree..the buyer should not feel responsible for the feelings or the business practices of the bike shop. You go in there to do business and any good businessman will realize the potential for future business interactions with you and treat you as well as possible.

As you said, it is not me that needs to develop the relationship with them as much as they do with me. I like the LBS that I just found as they do not use high pressure tactics, they are always willing to answer questions and have negotiated a very fair deal with me. This bike shop is a fair distance from where I live. There are 3 others that are in much closer proximity but I just like the way these guys do business so am willing to deal with that.
