Today's Ride

I ride every morning out into the countryside. Finally brought the camera along the other day and found out the batteries were dead. Today i brought it again and did have the batteries die again, but still snapped a few pics. Quality isn't the best, i think this camera is starting to crap out on me.

It was a strange ride this morning. I left before sun up as per normal and started to stop and take pics along the way which wasn't per normal. On one of my earlier stops i stopped to try and snap some fog rising from a small lake. I couldn't get the pic because it was too dark. However, when i stopped I started to hear a man's voice yelling as if he were pissed. I was on a dark country road without any homes around and this was a bit startling, i might add.

The voice kept yelling some unrecognizeable things that basically were very strange. I'm out in these parts every morning, but like i said, seldom stop. I quickly imagined that it was possibly a deer hunter in a blind that was pissed about my presence. I have a lot of flashin lights etc. on my bike and thought maybe i was making him mad. Still it was dark and i had no idea what it was that lie ahead of me.

I debated on whether to turn back home or to just mash on the pedals and hope for the best. I chose the ladder and quickly got up a lot of speed. When i neared the area in which i suspected the yelling to be coming from I was flying and breathing hard. I quickly passed a man walking. It was Scott, a man that i know lives in the area and walks to his rural work destination.

We explained pleasantries and we now know each other from years of passing each other on these roads, in the dark, light, cold, hot, etc. Still it didn't seem like his personality to be yelling. He is very quiet and reserved. I didn't bother to stop and find out if it was him or something else, since it was 29 F out and I was just ready to be free of the area.

Most of the rest of the ride was uneventful for the most part. I have included a link to a horse that i took a picture of. This horse has a HUGE tumor on the side of his head. I've never noticed this horse before, although there are many in the pastures out there. When i stopped to snap this pic, I was startled to hear some country music coming from a nearby pasture.

This again was troubling because there are no houses in the immediate area and I was 12 miles from town, in a very rural area. I kept looking up in the empty hills trying to find the source of the wandering country music. I couldn't figure where it was coming from. By this time I was starting to get paranoid.

Maybe this wierd stuff is going on around me all the time and I never notice, like i said i normally never stop. And i'm on my 4th year of riding these same roads.
