My New Bike and Mangled Saddle

I just had to share. I brought it home 2 weeks ago: an '06 Trek Pilot 1.2, basically the 1.0 frame with Tiagra/105 kit instead of Sora. So far its lead me to disagree with all this "Aluminum is harsh, carbon seatposts won't support 240lb people" junk, as its held up pretty well under my usual daily commute, and takes the bumps much better than my steelie. I'm a bit dissappointed that my average speed for the commute hasn't changed, but I suspect this has more to do with limitations set by the hills around here...its 13.9mi/h for those interested. Until I lose my gut, the the upsloping stem and geometry are NICE for getting into the drops, and since I chopped the brooks I find myself finally using them most of the time.

Tomorrow morning I plan on doing my first serious (3-4 hour) ride with it. When I swapped saddles with my old bike, the B17 just didn't quite look right sitting atop a carbon seatpost, so I decided it was buy a Swallow or chop this one. The chop-job isn't as symmetric as it could be, but I also left room to rivet the sides together once they've bent inward enough. For now its laced together with black zipties. It is incidentally, oh so much nicer to ride on after the chopping than it was before.

Here's the bike: http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...7&d=1161391778

Here's a side view of the Brooks:

You trashed a Brooks B17 because, "...just didn't quite look right sitting atop a carbon seatpost..."

Maybe you should have modded the silly seatpost!

My B17 looks great on my carbon seatpost.
