I had the Etrex Vista for years, I gave it to my nephew when I bought the Etrex Legend CX. I like that it is small and easy to read (the old B&W Vista was getting hard to read without my reading glasses). Moving maps are the way to go. I have handlebar mounts and a mount in my car, I have a belt loop case too. I also have a lot of maps on CDs and a in car power supply.
I use it to explore places I am unfamiliar with. I use it to record rides and give me ride info (distance, time, speed, etc.) for training. I use it while hiking and boating I bring it with me for plane rides (as a backup) but thankfully have not needed it at those times. I have taken it to Europe on trips and use it locally as well as around the US. You don't have to use it with a PC and maps but doing so is a lot more fun. I think the size combined with the moving map makes te perfect unit for biking. |
