Went from riding 5 miles at a shot in March to 50 by October.
Started commuting 1-2X a week (43m RT)
Upped mileage to 100-120 a week
Lost 45 lbs since March
Upgraded to a road bike
Bought a 2nd road bike
Got a CycleOps Fluid2 trainer and set up the 2nd road bike on it.

~1200 miles in 2006 from a couple hundred in 2005
Increased my average speed by 69% and average wattage by 111% on a 6.5 mile course
That 6.5 mile course used to take me 49 pathetic minutes to complete, now I can do it in less than 30 minutes. It feels like a warm up now, where it was a multi-stage event before.
Increase my burst speed by 54% and peak wattage by 140%
Lost 30 lbs and two dress sizes.
Increased general fitness level from getting quite winded walking up a flight of stairs to being able to run up three flights without an increase in my breathing rate at all.
Rode 159 miles in two days (MS 150).

Major highlights:
- rode a double century
- vowed not to become an ultra-distance cyclist
- significantly improved my PRs on 2 local benchmark climbs
- completed the Day One of the Everest Challenge
- put in 6000 miles
- climbed in excess of 420,000 total vertical feet
- (not proud of this) developed patellar tendinitis and took the last 2.5 months of the year off
