You will be seeing this on other forums too. Some will tell you they are for RSS feeds. Actually, they are being required by the U.S. government. The squares are actually little web cams so they can keep an eye on you.

I hope the CIA doesn't look for subliminal messages in the original post!

i have no idea what the wikipedia site about RSS means, is it important to us? maybe a moderator could explain it.

I'm just a caveman biker, all these technology is pretty nifty but its tough to get my cro-magnon mind around the updates.....

You can have an rss reader installed on your pc. Its sorta like email.
Then you subscribe to rss feeds, like any of our forums, that have a red rss square. Say you wanted to subscribe to the "commuting forum rss feed". You click on it, hit subscribe.

Then all day long as your sitting at your work pc, your rss reader updates every few min and sends a summary of all the new posts, say every 5 min. If one interests you, you click on it and get the full thread.

Basically it turns any forum, web site, blog, etc , into an an old fashion stock ticker, with constant updating. Just instead of stocks being updated, you pick and mix the content

Most web browsers (Firefox 2.0, IE7) have a RSS reader built in. There is software for PocketPCs and smartphones to pull RSS feeds from sites, so your cellphone can show the latest and greatest.
