Hidden treasures!

I was rifling through my dad's stuff for a spare tube (I was going to take his bike out for a spin today since I don't have mine with me, but didn't want to get stranded out in the cold), and wound up in a dusty box labeled "bike parts, tools, etc". Inside is a wonderland of 70's bike parts, from shiny steel brake calipers to dynamo lights, all in used-but-well-maintained condition!

I haven't had a chance to play with any of it yet, obviously, but I'm optimistic that I'l be able to use at least some of the stuff on a few of my project bikes!

LOL "a wonderland of '70's bike parts..." Sigh... sounds like my spare parts box... heck, I have old bearings from the '70's that for some reason I could not part with.

Lighting systems that have not seen batteries for a least 2 decades... and anybody need SunTour parts?

My body is a dusty container of old parts. I'm gonna tell my wife I've become a wonderland in used but well-maintained condition.

The great tragedy when I moved the last time was throwing away a bunch of stuff lifted from various project bikes and stored in various boxes and bags. I consoled myself with the knowledge that I wouldn't use the stuff anyway... until I got into another project bike and knew I had "just the right part for that"... or, did!!! Fortunately, my partner in the rebuild had the bits I needed, so all was not lost.

Wasn't that a recent popular song by John Maher? "Your Bike Box is a Wonderland?"
