A question...sorry if I'm a newbie...

I have a 1995 GT Tempest hardtail mountain bike and I have found a hairline crack in the frame at the headset. Since the frame would eventually tear up, I have a question...

Could I transfer my MTB components from my GT to say, a Schwinn aluminum hardtail mountain bike from Walmart/Target? I have considered a new MTB but I do not like the riser bars & disc brakes that they have on MTBs these days, they make then look like motorcycles which I despise.

Or I can find a used hardtail mountain bike from a bike shop/pawn shop and swap parts...I love the parts on my GT hardtail mountain bike and the flat handlebars with the bar ends & a low stem.

Just wondering...

Definitely do not get a x-mart bike. I am sure you can find some inexpensive good quality aluminum frame for your mtb on eBay or even your lbs should be able to help you out with that.

Not all new MTBs have riser bars or disc brakes.

Fuji gives you a choice. Here is a link to the Nevada 2.0. I have their 2006 Newest 1.0 road bike.

You can get a good quality frome from Surly or even Performance if all you want to do is swap parts.
Best to buy the best frame you can, everything else is much easier to upgrade later.
