53-39 up front; 12-27 in rear. I recently switched from a 12-25 cassette to the 12-27 and I find that the 39-27 combo is probably all I'm going to need for hills around here. The new cassette was alot cheaper than a compact crank!

I have a 53/39/30 & 12/27. My buddy just purchased a Specialized Roubaix with a 50/39/30 & 12/27; I am not sure I get it. I like mine better because I have a higher top end and the jump from my 53 to 39 is smoother than the 50 to 39, assuming you just want to use the middle six gears on the cassette with the 39 which I do to save chain wear and better efficiency. There must be a reason but I have not researched it.

I've got 50/34t in front and usually have 13/24t in rear. Will put on a 12/26t for hillclimbing day.
