Gripshift Gear Index Markings
Okay, here's a question that's been bothering me for a long time. Try as I may I cannot seem to come up with an answer.
I have a 2000 Giant Sedona CS so called "comfort bike" that came with Gripshifters. The index numbers 2, 3, 5 and 6 are black on a white background. The numbers 1 (biggest cog) and 7 (smallest cog) are white on a black background. The number 4 is black on white but with a black box around it.
The numbers on the chain rings are white on a black background for 1 (big ring) and 3 (small ring). The middle ring (2) is black on white but with a black box around it like #4 on the cassette.
What is the significance of this color scheme?
