I veel not buy this eyeball... it is scratched!
A couple of days ago, I seemed to have scratched my left eye while taking out my contacts. Now it's sensitive to certain light levels which is to say that when ambient light levels fall below a certain threshold or rise above a certain threshold, my eye hurts like a "beach".
However, I have found that my Rudy Projects with the smoke grey lenses do normalise things enough for me to function throughout the day without pain... at least in my house. So here I sit in my house wearing cycling sunglasses. I had planned on doing a ride today with a friend but now I'm not so sure I'll go. Does anyone know anything about scratched eyes and if I should sit around with an eyepatch or sleep to quicken the healing process or if it's okay to go about things normally as long as it doesn't hurt? The last time I did this, it took 3-4 days before it felt okay.

I would go see a doctor definately, I know my brother scratched his eye before. He could just feel his eye hurting but was not sensitive to light so it might be something more serious. All they had him do was have a patch over his eye for a few days.

sounds like a corneal abrasian. Needs to be checked out to see if you just need an eyepatch or eye drops. see your doc.

dude, time to cut the fingernails! I've yet to scratch my eye with 10 years of contact use under my belt er... lids
Light sensitivity seems like an odd side effect of a scratch. Are you using any eyedrops? If it's not healed in a couple days I'd make an appointment with the eye doc.

Your scratched cornea will PROBABLY heal normally and uneventfully, but why take even a small risk of permanent damage? My elder son scratched his cornea at age 10 and was back to normal within 4 or 5 days.

Well after three and a half days of walking around with a makeshift eyepatch (I cut up one of those airline sleep-masks you get on int'l flights) and my cycling sunglasses and generally looking like some weird extreme-sports sea-pirate, my eye suddenly got better. This morning it was still bothering me but by noon, I could hardly feel it and it's no longer light-sensitive. It's kinda weird also in that I had scratched it on Friday night but it was fine all Saturday until the sun started setting. Then all of a sudden it started hurting and stayed that way until earlier today when it almost as quickly went away.

If you scratched your eye, it should heal up very quickly. Since it has been a few days, you very likely have something in there. I would go to a doctor and get it checked out. If you have a small piece of metal in there, it will start to rust. (This happened to me once) That can cause some serious problems.
Believe it or not - I used to work on ships. There were several welders that worked with me. They would occasionally get flash burns in their eyes. They would actually put a slice of potato on each eyelid for the evening. The starch in the potato aids the healing.
