Great Bike Experience

OK, I just got done with my ride. I am at the front of my apartment when this man in his 60s on a triathlon bike rides up to me and begins checking out my ride. He likes the fact that I have a Surly Pacer and he says, "Yeah, a guy with a bike like that must not think right." I laughed. I knew he meant it as a compliment.

Well, he begins to tell me about how he is into vintage bicycles and how the triathlon bike was just something he threw together and he is going to try and sell. This guy only lives about 2 blocks away too. So, I decided to ride over to his place and check out his bike collection.

THIS GUY HAS ABOUT 100 BIKES. Wow, I could not believe it. This guy was a collector. He had all kinds of vintage bikes. He also had quite a few of early-90s rigid style mountain bikes, which I am quite fond of. After browsing his selection, he makes me an offer on an older Bianchi 10 speed. I couldn't resist.

Now I have a vintage bike project on my hands. It should be fun.

But the best thing that came about it was that I made a new cycling friend. This guy was really cool and a total straight shooter. He knew that bike up and down and pointed out every flaw before he made an offer. He also told me that if I bring him some business, I can browse his vintage bike parts bins. Let me tell you, this guy had 2 walls stacked with vintage bike parts.
