Does Michigan have any mega bike stores

In the greater Detroit area. From what I see they are all pretty much small mom and pop type stores. mom and pop stores usually suit my mood. Unless one is looking for product variety. Will soon be in Michigan and want to find a mega bike store.

can't help you. one would think the detroit area would be the place to go in MI for a large bike store. maybe there's one accross the border in windsor.

sorry i couldn't help....but here's the not-so-hidden agenda behind my post...

if you go to a shop and happen to see a helmet painted like the university of michigan football helmets, can you post the name of the shop?

Isn't cycling illegal in Detroit? As big as the auto industry is with banning public transportation.

Nope, no mega bike shops in Windsor, just mom and pop shops. As for mom and pop shops in Michigan, try Continental bike. Great staff, large selection of bikes.

Ann Arbor would be your best best for mega stores in SE Michigan. Out of curiosity, what are you looking for that smaller stores can't provide?

atomship. I will be in Ann Arbor. I would expect to somewhere see a UM cycling helmet. ?? You do mean cycling helmet? You' d think there would be a UM cycling helmet? I have seen plenty of UM cycliest tooling about town in UM bike kits.
What I am looking for ziemas. In the US i have seen several style mirrors not available in France. Also, some of my favorite tires, I have not seen in Europe. And, those clip on adapters used to convert clipless pedals to straps . I want those because we have guests who don't come with clipless style bike shoes and this makes it possible for friends to ride on of my extra bikes. Not sure what else.
Might as well ship back some of my favorite tires. I am sending back a care package of some our our favorite food items from Trader Joes.Nah, Ann Arbor has no mega bike stores.

Why don't you contact your favorite LBS ahead of time and pre-order what you want? Or order online if you don't have a favorite LBS.

Those folks are dirty sons of *****es. They make a regular habit of ripping off newbies. They told my friend he needed a new bike since it would be cheaper to replace it rather than buy and install a new brake cable. They exhibit huge pressure to buy crap you don't need. Maybe I'm biased in favor of reasonable prices and a friendly sales staff from being a former Cycle And Fitness employee, but I hate those dirty mother****ers.

There were 30 of us that day. The ride leader is BF's very own Caadman. Its a monthly ride through detroit that we do when its warm. At least 5 BF'rs make a regular habbit of going on it.

atomship. I put you on my buddy list. I will inquire about your helmet while in Ann Arbor next week. Some thread going around here . Can football helmets be used for cycling even if they look goofy. Can they? I will give you a PM from Michigan. I expect to do a full circuit of all Ann Arbor bike stores. Best shop in all Ann Arbor if felt to actually be in Saline. Very friendly helpful staff. probably my best luck would actrually be at the UM sports boutique on Hoover Rd. I might like to have one myself, even if my clubs colors are red and yellow.
pm ya later. cz

There aren't any mega bike shops in Ann Arbor, but Great Lakes Cycling and Fitness, on Stadium near Liberty, is a fairly big shop. I've seen Mich. stuff there, but can't recall if I saw any MI helmets.

You might find a MI helmet at one of the many shops around downtown, that sell U of M stuff. Steve and Barry's on State St is a big shop, with nothing but U of M stuff, and it's cheap. Just about anything U of M you can think of is there. The student shops have a lot of U of M stuff also. Main St. has a few U of M shops, like the M Den.

The MI helmet might have to be special ordered. If anyone has one it's the UM cycling team. Probably just MI colors without logo's.?Steve and Barry' s has sports gear. ?

Steve and Barry's doesn't have any serious sports gears, but I'm pretty sure I've seen smaller things, like maybe a MI baseball bat, or stuff like that. Small stuff. Since it's a shop geared toward students, and there are a lot of students riding their bike to class, there just may be a MI helmet. If you are already around Ann Arbor, stopping in many shops, Steve and Barry's would be worth checking. I'm always surprised by all the stuff they have there.

Isn't Velo City cycles one of the 5 largest trek dealers in the country? I think there's a few shops, family owned, but I'd have to get more definitive word on the name of the place. Heard the owner is a freakin' bike ambassador of the highest order.

western michigan. check with Trek, maybe they can clue you into the name of the shop, I've heard a LOT of good buzz about the place in the bike industry but for the likes of me can't remember the name of the place.

Why not just swap pedals? It only takes 3 minutes and a pedal wrench to change out a pair of pedals.

marks. they are the original pedals. i ordered the bike with clipless pedals . Also, that way I'd have to order pedalas and straps both. Can't use mail order and assure it will get to Mich in time. Only there two weeks. want to get my bike and Mich food stuffs shipped back to palau soon after I arrive.
