Front shifter help...
Ok, feel stupid on my first post but here it goes... I just recently bought a Haro Escape with some SRAM SX-4 shifters, well the thumb shifter on the right on kept bashing my thumb and bruising it. Went too far over the grip. The lever had a screw on the bottom of it and I thought what the hell, loosen it and adjust it to where it wont hit my thumb. Well, the lever pops off I was unable to put it back on. Well I think what the hell these things can't be too difficult so I take off the brake and grip to rip the whole shifter off to take it apart, WRONG, damn thing flew apart so fast I couldn't find out where the hell the gears went in it. Is it possible to even rebuild it? I have attempted it but not too much. Is it worth fooling with or should I take it to my bike shop to have it replaced with some shifters (possibly better shifters, suggestions?).

You might want to check into better brakes, the reviews on the bike indicate that the brakes are not the best part of the bike.
Others may chime into say they're great, and tell you whether or not the brakes can be fixed. I don't have any SRAM shifters, so I'm not much help there, sorry. East Hill |
Reminds me of the Uncle Remus Tarbaby story.
I'm thinking that you'll get your bike fixed a lot more quickly and save money if you take it to a shop. |
Went to the shop today and replaced it for free except the $15 labor charges... thanks guys and the SX4 shifters are the best for sram on the 8 speed bike...

Now you'll be able to tell us if you like the brakes :D !
