Man that SUCKS that really blows I really donb't know what to say man I hope you get it back
|
Good luck Chris. I really hope that the crud that stole your bike gets what he deserves (and I'm not talking about a free bike; more like time with bubba in a jail cell).

Hey dude, I would file report. Check out local pawn shops, walk around or ridr around neighborhood. Put some notes on telegraph posts with reward for information leading to finding a bike. Describe it and attacha picture. And also, at least here in Los Angeles area, lot's of people ride bikes on the beach, so often, the bike can be spotted there after the theft. Try something similar in your area... Put post i n local newspaper: Will buy a bike, and describe something slightly like yours. Thiev might try to sell it.
FIND IT! Wish you luck! |
Sorry to hear the bad news Chris. I can only imagine how defiled it must make you feel. Hang in there brother.

My condolences Chris.
Having had 2 bikes stolen in the past I know the feeling and sorry to report never a sight of them again. I do`nt know about OZ, but in the U.K. there is a thriving "steal to order" almost an industry running, the scumbags are on the look-out for anything decent to lift then sell it on to their backroom pub clients, a despicable buisness. Was the garage you refer to on your own property if so have a look on your home insurance policy maybe you have some cover for your cycle that way. |

Originally posted by Raiyn I've gotta admit that's a great spot to look for the ***** that stole your ride Chris. :D The thing is, I actually had it as "pawn" shops initially, then changed it (that's what I get for coming here at 5am). Originally posted by Chris L One of my riding buddies with a digital camera put a pic of it up there for me (I don't know where he got that pic from, but it's there!). So what's your new set of wheels like? --J |

New wheels aren't quite ready yet. I'm getting a couple of things changed/upgraded before I take them out and wring their neck. Just a final note (in case there's anyone on the forum who hasn't seen it yet), a pic of me and the old bike during happier times last November (check out the spanky helmet hair!):

:) Chris,Does that say John's on your riding shorts. If so who makes them? This would be cool to have my name on my shorts.

bike thieves should be locked to parking meters by the neck. i think that'd be apt, somehow.
|
sorry to hear about your lose, dude, right now if we can get hold of that guy/or gal we cold beating the s*******t of him/her/ its might be to kind a thing, for him/her, so we feed him/her to the piranha

That really sucks. I had the same thing happen to me years ago. Not a really great bike like I have now, but it was stolen out of my apartment building garage, where it was locked up. Obviously it had to be the work of a resident who knew someone. What filthy scum. I felt the same way you do. Steal a car, fine, but a bike that I had saved up to buy, that is the lowest of the low.
|
My sincere condolonces. I recently had a 3-wheeler atv stolen from my garage, I understand your fustratation. The good thing is that I know who the punk is that did it. I promise, some of my friends will be feeding him a mouthful of dirt when we catch up with him. I am in a "club" that makes people like him eat dirt, and if you know who they are, you know all about making trash eat dirt. - Ted

Originally posted by velocipedio in the old west, horse theives were ranked as low as murderers. so too should be bike theives. that really sucks, chris... :D Man, nothing will stop the Chis-man from riding, tho. You'll solve your dilemma and be cruising again, while that knucklehead will be tangled in the problems he made for himself. Smile, you're on the upswing, Chris-man. Cream rises to the top, you know. |
I wonder if all this posts made Chris feel any better...

Originally posted by Chris L I just got my new wheels this evening. :D I even had one member PM me offering financial assistance (I politely declined - for once I have the resources to solve this without relying on someone else's generosity). I've had people at work offering to lend me old bikes they had lying around until I got my new wheels. I guess it goes to show that while there is bike-thieving scum out there, there are plenty of good people around, too. :) |
Sorry to hear about your situation :(
Glad to hear you have new wheels :) |
Sorry about the theft of your beloved bike, but glad to hear you've got a new steed and will be out on the road again.
|
We are all the sum of our experience -good and bad. Time will heal your loss. Sounds like you're already riding on toward another, hopefully more cheerful, chapter of the Chris L Tour of Life...
|
It's amazing how this thread developed over 4 pages! When you can post something and receive that kind of response, you've made a significant impact on this forum.
Regards. |
Sorry to hear that Chris. Hopefully the tosser who stole it hits a kerb and smashes his face in.
Only one sentiment comes to mind. The sh1t head who took it is taking up the space that could have been better occupied by a dogs turd. If he gets arrested at any time in the future, know doubt he'll blame it on his childhood or the medication he was taking. |
I took my new steed out a couple of times today. 51km early in the morning, then 113km in the afternoon. Damn it feels good! I don't know if that's because of the quality of the ride or the fact that I'm just glad to be back on the bike again. Time will tell.
BTW, thanks for your "kind" words Bokkie, gave me a great laugh! |

While the thief chose to steal your bike , he might have stole a car & "hit & run" a fellow cyclist, pedestrian or child , did your insurance cover your loss ? regards greywolf |

Originally posted by Bokkie Just curious, how long did the 100+ take? I suppose about 2hrs, eh?:) Originally posted by greywolf did your insurance cover your loss ? I couldn't get it on the insurance from work either, but I'm not going to go into mourning about that. I've done enough mourning already! |
Originally posted by Chris L I couldn't get it on the insurance from work either, but I'm not going to go into mourning about that. I've done enough mourning already! You've got a strong attitude about it! I'm glad you got a new bike and are back on the road. I remember when I was a kid and we went into the fish store, we put our bikes in a tangle. We came out and my friends bike was gone, and my front wheel was spinning. He took off on my bike after the guy. I went out the back door of the fish store (a thrill when you 13, because you feel really cool for doing something you ought not to) just in time to see the guy on the bike going down the alley. Ran as I might, I couldn't catch up, and Eddie had gone the other way. Never saw the bike again. That was in the 80's, and the bike was a redline BMX bike. Eddie didn't feel better for a long time. So, the good part of that story? None, Eddie lost his bike. But, mainly just to tell you that I understand how it feels, and all sympathy. Hope you don't have such a problem with your new bike. And bad Karma to the thief. |
