Congrats!
Does your high school have a mountain bike team? Cool if they do.

well MY school has no team put together "yet" but some of the other schools around do, but i registered with the High school series.
The course was real fast! a lot of double track and a little single and only 2 real hill climbs so most of it was downhill if not flat. cool thing was it rained the night and morning before so there was almost no dust and the surface was nice and compact.

hey, congrats on the race... you take me back!

cool thing was it rained the night and morning before so there was almost no dust and the surface was nice and compact.
i know what you mean... in '99 when i raced Pickett's Charge (sport class - i finshed 34th out of 54 in 2:00:49- see https://www.time2race.com/results/Pic...rge%201999.htm -- it was my first race after recovering from my huge crash in April so i wasn't very strong) we wore those dust masks b/c there was so much dry dust and sand in the air --- the first 30 minutes of the race was a huge cloud and most of the downhills were virtually blind from all the dust flying.

did you race Beginner or Sport?

they must have shortened the course b/c the times are way less than what we had in '99 - just over an hour for sport as opposed to just under 2 hours for us... i think our course was 34 miles and a bunch of sport guys complained it was too long... i passed my buddy about 1 mile from the finish (he was out of water and hurting) and we had a sprint finish (i won but it was hokey as they were yelling to slow down and not sprint - uh, in a race at the finish?)

oh, just remembered it was Dustslinger that was 34 miles... 34 miles in 2 hours for a MTB race woudl be a fast course! but still, they must have shortened the course a little since '99

It sounds like they did shorten it, as it was only 12 miles for us beginers (very short)

BTW i thought i got 8th... but i looked in the paper today and it says i got 6th place!
