I have not rode in a week.

I have had a terrible cold for a week. I have been unable to ride since last Tuesday. I hope I feel better tomorrow. I have had a terrible cough. I don't think that working in the rain has helped much. Maybe I can start the week with a 16 or so mile ride tomorrow. I feel somewhat better today. No hacking cough until I nearly pass out.

I did ride while I was sick last Tuesday, and I could tell the difference in lung capacity, I felt very tired the whole way. That is the reason that I slacked off for the rest of the week. My wife left for a while and said that all of the riders were out today.

I guess that we will see tomorrow. -

Dont you hate how when you are sick or take a day off that all the sudden it seems like everyone in your area is on a bike? Hope you get better soon, colds suck.

Hope you get better real soon. Watch that stuff. I went into near bronchitis/asthma when I disregarded it for several weeks about a month ago. Doc put me on an inhaler.

I haven't ridden for a week too(until yesterday)....

I had some motivation problems and was quite busy(work).

But yesterday, I was 2kph(average) faster...
I didn't even expect I'de be faster... Now, I have to set a new average speed goal.. another 2kph probably..

Think of the time off as a recovery, and you'll be fine, so long as you aren't off for weeks and weeks on end. Besides, if you are sick, you'll end up doing more harm than good if you keep running down your run down body anyway by exercising.

Good job taking the needed rest break!

Good move... save your energy for fighting the cold. You don't want a relapse and wind up fighting the cold all summer.

Thanks for your concerns my friends. I did do a 20 miler yesterday, but it was tough. The first 8 miles was uphill. 2 1/2 down hill, and then I reversed directions and pedaled back to the trail head. The first half took enough out of me, that I was very tired all the way back, and stopped and rested 3 or 4 miles from the end of the ride. I had to work 12 hours today, so with that and the rain, I get another day off. I wanted to do a light 12 or 14 miler, but no chance today. I'll be having some time off from work next week, for a while, so after that, my job will no longer be interfering with my cycling. (Did I just say that?)

Yep, and I meant it for now. Best -

I haven't ridden in three weeks and the 2 months before that I didn't get to ride as hard as I wanted due to my knee.

I see the doctor tomorrow, I'm guessing I'll be having surgery.

I feel for you Terminator. I also won't be riding until sometime late next week because while my bike is still in Georgia I'm bouncing off the walls in Ohio.

Aye.
Sometimes I would make the mistake of going for a long ride while I would be fighting a sinus infection. (its hard to not want to ride since the severity of the illness varies a lot... some days I would feel half decent, while others I would feel I had to go to the hospital. It can last weeks, so its frusturating to sit in to try to VERY SLOWLY let the body fight it off.)

It is a good thing though, in my mind, to take a really easy ride when a sickness isn't TOO bad.

Getting a break is the only right thing to do when you are not feeling well. Rest well and you'll be back on your bike soon.
