Which Basic cyclecomputer should I get
So, I've read a few threads on the cyclecomputers and have my choice narrowed down to:
Sigma Sport BC 800
Cateye Mity 3
Assuming SAME PRICE which would you buy?
I'm really just looking for basic functions for when I ride my MTB on trails, paths and pavement. A clock is must and they all do speed, distance.
Their features seem close if not the same, so I'm looking for Opinions on quality, visibility, ease of use, that sort of thing. AND, opinions for those of you who own or have owned either one (or both) before.
thanks.

I have owned several Cateye computers over the years Mity 3 is one of them but it's been so long since I owned it I don't recall any specific features or flaws that really stood out.
Since you're looking for something for a MTB I would consider the Enduro 2 over the Mity 3. It is a more rugged version of the Mity 3. The new Enduro looks good as well.
If you can swing it get the Cordless 7 so you don't have to worry about wires on the MTB forks.
I'd go with a Cateye over the Sigma, but my opinion is biased. I use the MSC-3DX on my K2, Donna uses the HB-100 on her K2 and my stepdaughter Steff will be using an Astrale 8 on her Fuji when I finish building it.

Bikes: 1 trek, serotta, rih, de Reus, Pogliaghi and finally a Zieleman! and got a DeRosa
I used the Mity3 and currently have an Astrale.
If you're looking for inexpensive, look for last years
Astrale, I've seen them for as little as 20 bucks.
gives you basic functions and Cadence which is a good
thing.
For the difference in cost over the Mity3 its a nobrainer.

For the same price I'd buy the Sigma Sport for one good reason. Cateye computers are a booger to install. Sigma are a breeze.

I really don't want cadence function for my MTB. Just looking for the basics. Like I said, I liked these two, but couldn't figure out which was the better way to go. I'd end up spending the same on either one, since I can get the cateye at my lbs, but have to do mail order (shipping charges) to get a good price on the sigma. Aditional thoughts?

Will your LBS install it?

Go for the Cateye, not only can you get it locally (supporting your LBS) but you can have it on your bike that same day. Also, although biased, I have a Cateye and think they have a clear display, and it seems well made and robust.
Happy riding, Portent.

I've installed several Cateye mounts with no problems, on MTB, road and hybrid forks, although not specifically the Mity 3. What problems did you encounter Reg. Guy?

I like the Sigma Sport Targa Cycle Computer It mounts to the stem and not the bar to keep the unit out of harms way. Functions include, current speed, odometer, trip distance, clock, trip time (which is riding time) maximum speed, average speed and includes another function that compares current speed to average speed. This computer can also be programmed with two different wheel sizes. A heavy-duty wiring harness and Ti finish shell make for one tough computer
