Day two in Dallas ......

And still have not seen one cyclist. We have seen a lot of the 'burbs, yet I have seen no one on two wheels. I have seen a bike shop, but thats it.

Sheesh - its better for me because it helps me not miss getting some road time in but sheesh - does anyone ride down here?

I rode yesterday too. You must not be looking in the right places. And there were scattered thunderstorms all over the area yesterday. But not where I was riding

Just look harder.

I lived in the Dallas area for 12 years (Rowlett) and now in California. There are fewer riders in Dallas for sure, but some great areas to ride. I used to regularly find large groups of riders out in the country taking advantage of some the of less travelled roads. Be careful about the freeway frontage roads though. They're two-way, and can be confusing.

Here is a list of some local pay rides. The Hotter-n-hell ride in Wichita Falls gets 8000-9000 people each year.

Dallas Rides

Like what was said in the last bash Dallas post you gotta know where we start. Some of us don't particularly like ridding in town. We start on the outskirts and get in some miles. On our Tues / Thurs ride there are 3 stop signs in 25 miles. That is a lot better than every other block.

Here is another good web site for North Texas area rides: bicycle-stuff

There are many organized rides in the DFW area this time of year. This past Saturday the Collin Classic attracted 2000 cyclists. You can check out the event with photos and reviews at the site mentioned above. This coming weekend I'll be riding the Tour D' Italia in Italy with my sister. Italy is just south of the metroplex.

Heck the two LBS's I frequent (Richardson Bike Mart, Richardson location and Plano Cycling & Fitness) have Saturday morning rides for anyone that wants to ride in a group.

So come on down to Italy and join us for a great ride and a great time, or hook up with one of the LBS's for a ride.

Remember its all good when you ride.

Hey now - I wasn't bashing Dallas - just was amazed to see no one out. I have been in and around Addison - I guess the roads are pretty busy....

I gotta get a folding bike - this not riding sucks !!!

At least I will be home Thursday -- and it might not even be raining then.
