Do you dream bikes?

Recently I realized that for a while a lot of my dreams featured cycling in some form or another. Tonight, for example, I dreamt that I was training for a triathlon race. I felt very well-prepared and only after arriving at the start of the race I suddenly remembered that triathlon involves swimming and running, and all I ever trained for was the cycling part. In fact, I was shocked to realize that I didn't even bring running shoes or any kind of swimming suit, let alone a wetsuit. Another time I dreamt that my beater had a drop bar (it has a flat bar in real life) and I couldn't figure out how it suddenly switched bars on me like that. Do you, guys and gals, dream of such things too or is it time for me to see a mental health specialist about this unhealthy addiction of mine?

>>> I suddenly remembered that triathlon involves swimming and running, and all I ever trained for was the cycling part . . . is it time for me to see a mental health specialist . . . ?

Maybe. . .but not for this dream.

It's only normal to carry over this stuff into the nocutrnal realm when you're so deep into it. My personal cycling nightmare is a trail-side bottom bracket overhall [how odd?] and I have lost some parts in the dirt and I don't have the right tools to get it put back. . .and my SO is heaving sighs and tapping her foot.

I have dreams of either I'm touring someplace or my current bike gets stolen and I'm in a frantic search for it.

The weirdest dream I had about a bike though was one of the touring dreams where everything was too real involving all the senses, unlike most dreams that only involve 1 or 2 senses and certain things are not real in appearance or circumstances. This dream involved touring on some wide paved mountain road descending into a small village early in the morning where I look for a place to eat because I'm hungry. The weather is fair but clear and I can feel the wind on my face and hear birds singing. I park the bike at a small cafe where people were getting their breakfasts, and could smell bacon and hear people talking and plates moving etc. I walk over to order some food at the bar when I notice a woman sitting at a table by herself and she looks oddly familar, but not being sure I decide to go to her table to make sure. Sure enough it's an old school friend I had way back in GRADE SCHOOL, whom I've haven't seen since and never even thought of her, and now she looks to be in her 60's! Weird uhh? But it gets weirder, as we're talking about old times I happen to look down at my hands and they were the hands of someone who was also in their 60's. In other words I had a dream where I was older and taking place at some time in the future. This dream occured about 20 years ago when I was in my 30's.

I've had lots of bike dreams. Back when I rode mtn bikes, I'd dream about trials riding and pulling stunts that I'd have no sucess with in real life. Most recent, I had a dream that I was riding my commute on my fixed gear. My commute is highway driving. I was travelling at highway speed and noticed that there were no cars around me, but lots and lots of bikes! It was everyone comuted by bike on the highway, all drafting off of each other. Fantastic. I wish this dream would come true.

The first bike I painted for a paying, non family member customer!
He wanted some kind of shnazzy red.
The night before I was going to spray the color, I had a psychedelic, multi colored dream about it.
So the next day, I started with a metallic blue base color. Then a friend stopped by and asked what the final color was going to be. I replied, red! You should have seen the look on his face!
(the kind of look that asks; if it's going to be red, why is it blue now?!?)

About 10 coats of paint later, I had what I refer to as "Bowling Ball Red"!
The kind of color that looks about 2 feet deep!

Sorry I don't have a digital picture of it. The picture I do have just doesn't show the look you see when you see it in person.
You'll just have to dream about it!

Think I only had two bike dreams. The last one was about a month ago and it really upset me. Not exactly a "scream dream" but not far from it either. I dreamed I was in a flea market, and had locked my bike to a pole. When I came back it was gone. Really upset me, so I started looking around for it, passing throngs of people, and looking behind every table. I remember even yelling out if anyone had seen a multicolored Tommasini around. No one knew nothing. I was getting frantic, until finally I saw the front wheel of my bike peeking out from behind a stack of boxes.

I was elated, and looked the bike over real good, seeing that it all looked O.K, until I saw the shock of my life, which horrified me to no end.

Some low life had stolen my Brooks 'Pro' off of it, and I sank to my knees and broke down into tears. I remember I woke up kinda like whimpering with grief, just like a family member had died. I rushed to check on my bike, and it was alright, confirming it was all just a bad dream.

I dont like dreams like that

I had an occasion when I was checking out the bike while all my friends in the car was checking out the girl riding the bike.

The conversation when something like this:

Me: Whoa, check it out.
Friend: Yep, she's pretty hot.
Me: Oh right.

Then I think in the back of my mind, "What the hell is wrong with you?!"

Wow, you've got patience. And I think I know what you mean by "2 feet deep". Awesome.

I would have loved to seen a picture of that, it must have been very cool looking. Perhaps you should consider going into the frame painting business?

In my early years of commuting I would take a solid three months off in the winter. I still don't ride much on ice, but if conditions permit, I now ride intermittently all through the winter.

Anyway, back then, I would start to dream incessantly about biking about a week after I hung it up for the winter. It would last a week or two and then subside. Sort or a withdrawal phenomenon.

Oh, and Chephy...you sound normal to me, or at least your dreams do.

Hmmmmm,,, are you too an engineer?

An engineering student is walking along when a fellow student arrives on a new bicycle. Impressed, he asks, "Where did you got this beautiful bicycle?"

"Well," the second engineering student says, "A couple of days ago I was just walking along when this georgeous blonde pulls up, hops off the bike, rips off all her clothes, and says 'take what you want'."

The other engineering student nods and says "Good choice. The clothes probably wouldn't have fit."
Don't recall any dreams of such [or of much of anything for that matter], but do find myself thinking quite a bit in regards to where/when I want to ride next... woke up the other day, woman asked what I was thinking about, told her...
