How many times do you ride in a week.
How many time do you normally ride in the course of a week. Considering this, what do you normally expect to log as your weekly mileage.. I usually ride 3-4 times and expect to normally log about 175 miles a week.. With a little luck this year, will be my best year with hopefully 9,000 miles. As of this week, I have 8,300 miles for the year...

When I can ride...5 to 7 days a week. I put in 500 to 1000km / month tops. But single track mtb is very different from road work.

I guess with commuting every week day and wanting to ride on the weekends, it's nearly everyday. and I turn into a right grouch if I don't manage to go for a ride.

I said 5-7 because, from The end of March to the end of October, I get out six days a week, every week. This time of year, though, it's hard. I've only be getting out for rides two or three times a week. The rest of the time I run or ride the trainer.

My avg is 40-70 miles a day 5 days a week. Monday's I have off, if I do ride its commuting to work. And the other day is more of a "go have fun" ride. Saying all this, sometimes my coach is psycho and has me do 140 miles one day, and 80 the next. Not in this weather, but during the spring, or late fall to see how far my body can be pushed.
I don't want to even think how many miles I do a year, I know I go through tires faster than anyone else at my LBS

Summer (April - november) commuting, 5 weekdays, 37 miles round trip, errands average 2 a day 6 to 8 miles round trip, all with panniers and a trunk bag full of tools. Saturday I ride a solo century on the touring bike to unwind, Sunday I ride a century with friends on the road bike just for the social aspect of the sport.
Winter commuting 4 to 5 days depending on weather, I don't ride when the cars can't see or go in the snow. on days that I don't ride i do intervals on the cyclops fluid 2+ in the basement. Weekends, I ride the commuter on 3/4 centuries or ride the trainer, depending on the weather. I make sure I do 1 century per month on the trainer throughout the dead of winter.
this year milage to date: 12,465

I'll ride 5-6 days a week, not counting errands. Mileage will go anywhere from 180 to 250 miles, again not counting errands.

i commute year-round an average of about 4 days a week - 11km x2 = 88km/ week
then i do most of my errands and basic transportation by bike - i don't own a car, probably about 100km per week.
in summer i ride at least twice a week recreationally, sometimes 3 or 4. in winter, until snow sport season starts (about now, first week of December - i did mountain tours the last 2 weekends and last sunday the snow started at 1500m - tomorrow should be sunny in the Alps and we're riding a route only up to about 1300m so should be only a little snow i hope) i ride 1-2 days a week recreationally - once there is snow in the mountains i only ride once a week recreationally.
weekly summer mileage = about 250km
weekly winter mileage = about 150km
mileage in 2002 (i need to check the odometers and count officially), but about 12,000km and 61,000m vertical!!

cyclezealot,
You can get computers that have extra long mounting wires so that it stretches back to your chainguide. Also there are magnetic ones that work from that distance as well. These are good if you ride on the trainer alot, and have a funky fork that you can't fit your mounting bracket on it

Every lane is a bike lane
A more appropriate question for me would be:
"How many times do you ride in a day?"
"How many times do you ride in a day?"

I've got to ask. Those of you that ride what to many would feel is an extreme amount, are you married or have significant others? When do you have time for anything other than riding? If so, how does one juggle riding and working and regular life activities?

At midseason, it's not unusual for me to get 20 hours in a week.
I do have a significant other. She is a cyclist and we ride together quite a bit of the time. In late summer, when I start training in earnest for the cyclo-cross season, the length of the rides actually drops and I start focusing more on intervals, speed and recovery training. My SO doesn't normally join me on those rides. I tend to get a bit bloody minded.

5-7 for me, especially at the height of the season. Early in the season, when the weather is still bad, I'll be riding and going to the gym, so closer to 4-5 than 6-7. I find that's a good way to start off the season.

Because of my 12.5 hour shift work, I get a lot of week days off and my SO does not realize how much time I spend on the bike -when she is at work... Not being on this shift would take away from our joint time, because then, the weekends would be really be a hassle; and she would realize how many hours I am on the bike.. If I do not get in my bike time, I assure you I am not fit to live with..
I plead with her to start going on Saturdday, easy rides with me. If she will not even try it, ( she has a decent hybrid) it makes me feel less guilty when i take off for my 5 hour ride.. we still have many activities we share at night.. Oddly enough, most days my exercise regime provides me with extra enegry to go out at night..

i ride every Wednesday night and my girlfriend just plans for it. then i ride either Saturday or Sunday - usually leaving early at 7-8am and returning late afternoon evening (take train to the Alps and ride). she sleeps in so and then plans her own activities and then we have the evenings and one weekend day together. actually works out pretty well b/c she likes the 2 days to herself every week --- although i wish i could get her to ride more with me but other than hour-long leisure rides in the park during nice weather, doesn't look like it's gonna happen.
about the only relationship conflicts are:
1) on vacation i like to include cycling which she finds a little annoying sometimes - i've pretty much modified to either taking "sport" vacations with my buddies and leaving the bike at home when i go with my girlfriend
2) i talk about cycling a little too much for her liking...

Ha, sorry this thread keeps evolving hourly it seems. To answer the daily question. I usually ride to and from work, errands and then my scheduled ride. If I don't commute I usually ride in the morning and again in the evening, though the evening starts to slack in the dead of winter.
My social life is fine, could be cuz I work at a bike shop. I'm seriously involved and have been for over a year. (That's a big deal for an 18 year old!) My gf understands that I am passionate about the things I do. She also encourages as much as she possibly can. Sometimes its her throwing me out in the morning We have an understanding relationship. She got into biking so she could slowly start enjoying something I love. On the flip side she has her passions and what not, I give room for these too. If you think about it when your in a relationship you need that couple hours in a day, that you aren't working, and you aren't at home on the couch. Not only do you need it but they need it.
As for my social life, aka friends. My closest dearest friends either bike, or have slowly gotten into biking because of me. Most of them I've known forever, or work with. When we hang out 50% of the time it is bike related. I've never seen biking as something that dampens my social life or anything like that. If anything it is something that allows me to meet people with the same intrest, stay in shape and also gives me time to unwind. Think of it as yoga, with a higher kick of calorie burning. Oh, and you don't wear funking clothes or lay on a padded mat....
