2003 TdF Posts

The Tour is closing in quickly. Therefore, I'd like to respectfully ask that we not discuss the TdF stages until @ the day after the stage so that those of us that can only watch this grand sporting event in the evenings get an opportunity to watch it with some suspense.

Thoughts??? ThanX!

Alternatively you could visit bikeforums.net after watching the stage, thus allowing those who can't watch it a chance to catch-up on what happened.

There are at least half a dozen "good" websites that will have coverage or regular updates and news so you can follow each stage throughout the day. :)

And I hope James Raia will be updating the BikeForums TdF Times for us again this year.
That is were most of the discussion will be, except for the discussions on the Road Cycling and Road Bike Racing forums. :D

But if you have to see the race to get your fix then you'll have to take your chances reading everyone's comments on BikeForums.

What's a TdF? Can just anyone sign up to do it? HEHEHE :D

Man I am so pumped.....can't wait for it to start!!! This is gonna be better than Survivior!! Last year was the first year I had access to television coverage of the tour. I just could not get enough of it!! It's gonna suck when it's over and I have to wait another year to see the next one.

GO LANCE!!!!!! GO USPS!!!!!!

Or you could not click on any "Tour" related threads till after you watched the stage. One of my favorite things is getting online and talking about a stage after I have watched it that morning.

It gets really confusing when pro racing gets discussed in like 4 different forums here. I dunno where to look.

But it is kind of a nuisance when someone puts something like the stage winner's name in the subject title

Yes, no results should be listed in the thread title ... name the thread "Tour de France - Stage 1 Results" or something if you can't refrain from sharing results .... but the communication of others about tour stages should and hopefully will happen throughout the tour.

Tell you all what- if I see any titles that show the stage winners before the next day, I'll "edit" the titles to something unobvious and neutral....

This is ONLY in the event that someone posts the winner in the posts BEFORE the next day.... and ONLY if I'm around to catch it, of course!

I follow CyclingNews.com coverage, but I promise I won't say anything.

Oops, I've said too much.

One of the Australians is going to win the green sprint jersey. Lance (ho hum) is going to win yet again after he takes over the yellow jersey (as soon as there is a hillclimb and/or team time trial). The only question is the king of the mountain jersey, and well, who's interested in that anyway?

So, what do we need updates for? :)

wabbit 06-30-03 07:28 PM

I avoid the internet until I see the stage, then I get the full results. With other races, they often aren't covered live or I don't get to see them until weeks later on tape, so I listen on live audio or check the results. But with the Tour, I keep mum. Except of course that Armstrong will probably win, but stages are something else.

I think my wife is already tired of hearing about it. She made it through the Giro so I told her that her training would help carry her through the many night of OLN ahead.

ThanX Koffee. I don't want to have to stop posting and reading posts during this period for fear that I'll learn the stage results. I appreciate any effort you put forth!

It's going to be difficult for me not to cheat and not look on the Internet for the stage results, but I'm going to try! :)

I can't wait for the race to begin!!!!
