im watching the TDF, and they just ran a commercial for the US post office.
the moto of the the u.s. post office is something like this:
"niether rain nor sleet nor gloom of night will keep this courier from his appointed rounds."
thats not exactly correct but it gives you the idea.
anyway the commercial is clips of LA riding in different elements while they go thru the moto.
the moto is pretty well known here and the U.S. and i thought it was pretty cool.

Or just those of us that don't get OLN even or the Tour highlights in general either... whether in the USA or out of the country.
Shoot, I am missing out on a lot of commercials! I never got to see the humorous one Lance did for NASCAR either.

Yup, that's a new and cool one. However, I REALLY like the OLN TV commercial with Bob Roll trying to correctly pronounce the term "Tour de France".
I'm soooooo happy to see Bobke back on le Tour this year!!

My favorite OLN Tour commercial is the one with the fishing show hosts Roland Martin and Bill Dance. I was laughing so hard my wife thought I was on something!

Yes, if we must have commercials, things are looking much better than they did last year, when it was "all Lincoln Navigator, all the time."
I still want to spit every time I see one of those monsters on the road.

I mean, for goodness sake, its a bunch of grown men in tights riding bicycles. Dramatic and entertaining, but lets not get out the violins for them, which is what that commercial seems to me to be trying to do.

The commercial does a good job of portraying bike racing with the same drama and emotional weight typically given to other sports in the US and elsewhere.
One can argue whether professional sport in general is deserving of such treatment, but I don't think this USPS commercial goes any farther than a thousand other football and baseball and tennis commercials do.
For good or ill, sport is a way of life for a lot of people, and not just those who are paid for it.
And on an objective level, I think a case could be made that cycle racing is more difficult and risky, and takes place under more demanding conditions, than many other sports that people tend to think of as "physical." The commercial makes that point quite well.
I also think the spot is well and artistically done. And it's about time the USPS put some money into promoting their team in the US.

I haven't caught that ad yet, but that Nascar ad with lance was funny.
My favorite was the one during last year's vuelta, with the "phil and paul bingo", based on how they pronounce various words. Hilarious!

It turns out we won't get any of those fun ads- OLN canada shows different ads. Bummer!
