Who works in a bike shop?

I'm just curious. I also am wondering if it is lucrative? I go to my LBS's often, and it seems that everyone there does pretty well. Or is it just because they get all those great deals on their hobby

Yup! If I needed expensive parts, I got a bike shop job. Got everything wholesale, although a couple of shops have added 10%.
Then, along came eBay.
But I did manage to aquire a whole bike shop's worth of tools. Always a good investment at wholesale.

I work a few hours per week in a bike shop in exchange for bike parts. I couldn't afford to work there full time.

I work full time at a bike shop. The money is not the greatest, but I enjoy the job. You can get great deals on bikes and parts though. I had a full time job that payed 3 times as much, but left it to go bak to the bike shop. Money is not everything.

After doing it for ten or fifteen years, you may make as much as $30,000 a year. That is for a ffity hour week with no health benefits and limited time off. But don't worry because some BF members will think you live in a mansion made of gold.
And, when you post here on the forum, someone will twist your words and hate you for working in a bikeshop and trying to be helpful here*
It is great, I highly reccomend it.

*It is far better to spend twenty years working in a shop, but pretend you have not when posting on the forum and also berate shop people at every chance. That way BFers will eulogise you and treat you like a god

I don't mind helping anyone out. Just as long as they don't act like pricks.
