front wheel parking brace
I really don't know what this thing is called, but my '84 Univega touring bike has this little wire brace that mounts on the down tube. When I swing it out and back the wheel into it a bit, it locks the wheel in the center position and makes it convenient to lean the bike against a pole or a bldg.. I would like to get one for my new road bike only I don't know what the thing is called or whether even they still make and sell them. Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

I've never seen one, but a velcro strap around the front brake lever will accomplish the same thing.

Yup!!! Great little trinket. It was called a "Flick Stand". . .haven't seen one since the '80s. We were just discussing them over in BF50+. My last one crumbled to bits in my hand about two years ago. Betcha' you could find 'em on eBay.

I had one, it worked well when new. They where made flimsy, on purpose, so that they would not cause a problem if the got stuck, or fell into the front wheel, I don't know how that could happed. Anyway, as it got older, the plastic part that held the wire part against the down tube wore out, so the wire part flopped around a bit, they just didn't last long.
