Help!
I was just sitting in my living room looking at my new (used) Softride. It is my 4th bike and I live in a three-room apartment one for a bedroom one for a hanging out and cleaning bikes. And the 3rd one is the bike room. I had hoped to be able to set up a little work area in there, but the bikes and the accessories, parts, tools etc take up the whole room. Since I do not have a garage I have to lay a plastic tarp on my living room set up my stand and clean 2 to 3 bikes on Sunday night. I just completed my 5th century in a year yesterday (number 4 was Saturday). I did 4 half centuries and a handful or 2 of rec rides as well as commuting year round. And you know what none of this seems to bother me. So tell me should I just not worry about it or should I seek professional help? :)

 I don't see any problem here, ngateguy. Take a deep breath, close your eyes, then open them. Things will be more clear. ;)

Just keep repeating your daily affirmation:
I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me! :) |
Professional help is always a good idea. The trick it to get help from someone in the right profession.
|
ngateguy, you've got it as badly as we have. There is no cure, so professional help is pointless. You'll just have to live with it. And understand, it gets worse. Keep your chin high, though, and you can join us in the cycling asylum when you can truly say your bikes are talking back to you ;)

Hmmm...everything seems perfectly normal to me, ngateguy.
Looks like you've got some room in that bedroom for some bikes and stuff. That's about the only help I can offer. |
While you're in that bike cleaning frenzy, want to clean mine too? ;)
I just cleaned it right before the STP and those rainshowers we hit along the way has made my roadbike dirtier than my MTB. :( I especially liked that spot of "Fresh Oil" we rode through while the sky was coming down. And then of course there was that idiot in the truck hauling dirt that was being blown everywhere evenly coating us after we were already drenched... Oh well... still a wonderful ride. |
Ngateguy, you're in serious trouble. I don't think that counselling is the answer, but I believe I can help. Send me a list of all the bikes, accessories, and tools that you have and I'll send you back a list of the things that I think I can take off your hands. No, no, no - don't thank me - I'm glad to do this for a fellow cyclist. We travelled to Bellingham last Friday afternoon and had the pleasure of driving north on I-5 through your town about 4:30pm. What a mess, but I'd be willing to do it again just to help you out. My wife is from Everett, so I don't think we'd have a problem finding your place. Just let me know......:D

Just surrender to it. We came to believe that we were powerless over cycling and our lives had become unmanageable. . . . ;)
